Let me take a selfie: Louis Tomlinson greeted the hoards of fans who had turned out to greet the One Direction star as he arrived at Doncaster Rovers' Keepmoat Stadium on Sunday
Dressed in an army green jacket with a grey t-shirt underneath, Louis took time to snap some selfies with the crowd before he headed inside to prepare for his big match.
The singer was surrounded by teenage fans, who promptly burst into tears after their encounter with the boy band star.
Louis, who is enjoying some time off after wrapping the latest leg of 1D's On the Road Again tour, took it all in his stride as he patiently greeted as many Directioners as possible.
Strike a pose: The singer took plenty of snaps with his fans before prepping for his big match where he was captaining a side for the Legends Game
The star may have looked relaxed outside the stadium, but he was soon tweeting about his nerves as he prepared to lead his team onto the pitch.
'Gonna be a great day today !! Can't wait to play ! #DRFC,' he told fans before adding a couple of hours later: 'Sh*ting it !!'
Louis was quick to extend his thanks to Doncater favourite James Coppinger as well, tweeting:
'Also massive thank you to @Coppinger26 for inviting me to play! What a legend you've been for us Copps ! Massive honour to play !! #DRFC'
Say cheese: The star was followed by some burly security guards as he chatted to Directioners
Time out: Louis has been making the most of some time off from One Direction's mammoth world tour
Louis has kept his close ties with Doncaster Rovers despite being left bitterly disappointed last summer when his takeover bid for his beloved team collapsed.
The star was hoping to raise funds to purchase his hometown team but after his Crowdfunder campaign - which charged fans £12,000 to spend 10 minutes with him and £250 for a selfie - fell short of its £2million target, his bid was axed and he claimed he 'was misled'.
Louis wrote on Twitter at the time: 'I'm absolutely gutted the Doncaster Rovers deal is not going ahead. I am desperate for the club to be given the recognition it deserves :(
Loyal fan: The singer has been a longtime fan of Doncaster Rovers, even launching a takeover bid last year
'I was explicitly told that the deal to buy the club was not dependent on the money raised by crowd-funding. Unfortunately I was misled.'
Louis insisted he still wants to 'be involved' and promised supporters he will do all he can to help.
He added on Twitter: 'My passion for Doncaster Rovers remains as strong as ever, and I hope that I can still be involved with the club moving forward!'
