CANNES LIONS 'People are envious of us and want to break up our friendship': Jonathan Cheban reveals the tough side of being Kim Kardashian's best friend 

He's the outspoken and hilarious best friend of Kim Kardashian but Jonathan Cheban said their friendship has to be made of strong stuff due to the nature of their careers. 

During a panel chat hosted by Katie Hopkins for DailyMail.com at Cannes Lions on Wednesday, the 42-year-old said there is a tougher side to being so famous. 

'It's a very competitive industry,' he said.

'We all started at the same place eight or nine years ago and people are envious of us. They want to break up our friendship.'

The panel was also attended by reality star Charlotte Crosby, The Voice UK winner Kevin Simm, internet sensation The Fat Jew, former TOWIE star Gemma Collins and mixologist JJ Goodman. 

Jonathan was overjoyed to see that The Fat Jew was sporting a pair of shorts which were emblazoned with a series of pictures of Kim Kardashian crying.

'Does she cry a lot?' Katie asked Jonathan.

'No, no, he replied. But she has the best crying face. I think she was in tears there because she had lost an earring.'

Jonathan also talked about his incredible metabolism and said he likes to eat all day every day as he is The Food God.

'How do you do it?' Katie asked him.

'I don't know,' he replied. 'I think God just blessed me.'

Jonathan looked fashion forward in a Versace denim jacket worn with black jeans which were covered in rips.

Having lost his luggage when he flew into Cannes on Monday, the star said he was having to make do with the clothes he had in his hand luggage.

'I'm down to my last Yeezy's' Jonathan lamented. 

The night before, he attended the DailyMail.com's yacht party where he admitted that he had lost a one-off pair of Kanye's trainers when his luggage went missing
