Tesco's car park in Chester city centre has reopened ahead of schedule following yesterday's incident which saw a car collide with a barrier .

The vehicle was exiting the car park of the Frodsham Street supermarket just before lunchtime yesterday (Saturday, January 9) when it hit the barrier on the ramp, causing hours of traffic disruption.

Earlier today a Tesco representative said it was likely the car park would be out of use for 2-3 days at least and said they were working on resuming normal service.

However, this evening Tesco Chester City has tweeted: "The car park has now fully re-opened. Please take extreme care on exiting the store while we continue with additional works."

Cheshire police confirmed that nobody had been injured in the incident. Some drivers said on social media that they were forced to leave their cars in the car park and make their own way home whilst emergency services worked to remove the vehicle.
