'A true beauty - inside and out': Alana Stewart pays tribute to best friend Farrah Fawcett as she marks seven years since the actress' death

She's the Charlie's Angels icon who passed away in 2009 after a long battle with cancer. 

And one of Farrah Fawcett's closest pals, Alana Stewart, took to social media to mark seven years since the TV beauty's death on Saturday.

The 71-year-old actress shared one of the late star's most iconic images on Twitter and wrote: 'Remembering Farrah. She left us 7 years ago today-way too soon. A true beauty - inside and out. #FarrahFawcett'

Farrah died aged 62 after a three-year battle with anal cancer which she was first diagnosed with in 2006.

Alana helped Farrah document her treatment and was by her bedside when the actress succumbed to the disease in Santa Monica in 2009.

Farrah left behind one son, Redmond James Fawcett-O'Neal, age 31.

The actress was married to singer Rod Stewart from 1979–1984 and the couple share two children together, Sean and Kimberly.

She also has another son, Ashley Hamilton, with ex-husband George Hamilton, 76.

Saturday also marked the seven year anniversary of Michael Jackson's death, prompting hundreds of fans to write tributes on social media.

Jackson's daughter Paris, 18, posted a collage of the late pop star and wrote: '7 years, rest in peace, my best friend in the entire universe. i love you more than anything. 

'things may be a little sh**ty in the press right now but everyone knows it's all bull and i swear on the family name i will protect you for as long as i live. there's no one like you, and there never will be. thank you for touching millions of hearts, but especially my own.'
