00:04:56, 24 June 2016 review of submission by Dowhatyoulove19[edit]

Hi LaMona / Wiki friends, thanks for reviewing my article. I have reference several notable Australian Music Industry publications here, I may not have done them properly? Can you help. I can include more of the same. David Roy Williams is similar to the pages Michael Gudinski and Chugg. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:David_Roy_Williams This person is notable in the Australian Music Industry, specifically in the years of Shock Records. He was the Co-chairman of our Aria Music Awards, the Australian equivalent to the Grammy's. I can try accessing a library to get references to printed media from the 80s, 90s early 00's.

Thank you in advance!

09:13:35, 24 June 2016 review of submission by Scomma[edit]

Hi, I have tried to revise the article that I made about Page365, but still stuck in notability and what I have is the materials from news articles that mentioned about them, will it be fine to use them or what kind of soure that I can use to increase the notability?

Request on 14:17:10, 24 June 2016 for assistance on AfC submission by Justin Jaron Lewis[edit]

I do not understand why this article has been turned down again.

Also, I see that other hands have been involved in editing it without consulting me. If these edits had been helpful in getting the article accepted I would be glad, but since they have not led to acceptance and have deleted material I thought was important, I don't understand why they were done.

The rejection has the same wording as was used before the last many edits. In those edits, however, I tried to address each of these concerns.

"Reads like an advertisement" -- this comment was made on an earlier draft in which I had included several quotations in praise of Buxbaum and his work. I deleted those quotations from the submitted draft. For example, rather than quote the high praise given to Buxbaum's book in several reveiws, I have simply mentioned that there are reviews and provided references to them. I don't see anything in the current draft which is not a statement of fact. -- Also, could the reviewer not edit out anything that "reads like an advertisement"?

"Reliable, independent sources": I have added a bibliography of Buxbaum's books, most of them from well-established publishers. The source references include reviews devoted to Buxbaum's work in several well-regarded journals, as well as passages in printed books recognizing his importance. Buxbaum's own website is included only in the "External Links" section, and interviews with Buxbaum are included for some details of his personal story.

"Notability" -- First of all, someone has deleted the sections I added about venues where Buxbaum has taught and told stories, and websites of or articles about some of his ordinees. These were intended to further establish his notability and I do not know why they have been deleted.

Otherwise, I cannot understand how an author of several significant books, storyteller recognized by the most important people in the storytelling world, and teacher of accomplished students, is not "notable." As was mentioned in a previous discussion, this is also a man at the end of his career. It is not as if I am trying to promote some up-and-coming young author whose worth has yet to be established.

Please reconsider this article for acceptance. Could it perhaps be reviewed by someone who is familiar with the world of Jewish spirituality or the storytelling revival?

With thanks. Justin Jaron Lewis (talk) 14:17, 24 June 2016 (UTC)

First, if you want comments by someone who is familiar with Jewish spirituality or Jewish storytelling, you might try WT:WikiProject Judaism. Second, if sections of your draft were deleted, and you disagree, you may restore them, but do not edit-war, and you may discuss the edits on the draft talk page or on the talk page of the other editor. 13:32:42, 25 June 2016 review of submission by Raffyross[edit]

I submitted the article "Ronald J. Ross". The editors are inferring I may have a close connection to the subject of the article. I have attested that I do not have a relationship did not receive any compensation for the creation of the article. How can I resolve this successfully and have this claim of COI removed from the article?

21:44:49, 25 June 2016 review of submission by 71.245.13.13[edit]

71.245.13.13 (talk) 21:44, 25 June 2016 (UTC)

The article is already in article space, and this is for discussing draft articles in draft space. However, if you disagree with the tag on the article, you may discuss the tag on the article talk page. If your user name has a very similar name to the subject of an article, it may be guessed that you either are the author or are related to the author. (Some people choose a username to show respect for someone whom they admire, but that causes many questions.) Robert McClenon (talk) 15:06, 28 June 2016 (UTC)

Request on 08:46:04, 26 June 2016 for assistance on AfC submission by Micko.west[edit]

Hi, I am unclear as to what this comment means ' Remove all in-line http links - not allowed.', left by the reviewer. My submission has been rejected because of lack of reliable & verifiable sources. I thought that the way to do this was by citing references through htttp links. If all these have to be removed, please inform me as to how external sources are to be cited. Also, I have lots of reliable and reputable sources that are pre internet, is it possible to scan these documents and include them with my submission. Finally, is there a conflict of interest with the page being submitted by myself about my music/acting career?

Many thanks

micko westmoreland

Micko.west (talk) 08:46, 26 June 2016 (UTC)

Hi Micko.west, there is a definite and strict difference between references and external links. A reference link is formatted so that the actual link appears in the "References" list at the end of the article. Only links to other Wikipedia pages may appear directly in the article text. The most basic way to turn a link into a reference is by "wrapping" it in ref tags, like this: "The moon is made of cheese.<ref>http://allaboutthemoon.com/cheese</ref>" which ends up displayed as: "The moon is made of cheese.[1]" and creates an entry in the references list like this:

References

I hope this helps. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 15:34, 26 June 2016 (UTC)
Hi Micko.west. With respect to the other parts of your question, yes, a person has a conflict of interest when they are writing an autobiography. We won't stop you from trying to writing an article about yourself, but it's extraordinarily difficult - almost impossible to do in a way that it will be accepted on Wikipedia.
Pre-internet sources may be used. The way to reference them is similar to that of on-line sources, only without the url. For example: <ref>Irene M. Clark (June 17, 1948). "Pianist, Former Service Man, Wins Top Music Merit Award" ''The San Diego Union''. p. 19-A.</ref> --Worldbruce (talk) 16:53, 26 June 2016 (UTC)

roy cameron (talk) 12:48, 26 June 2016 (UTC) who is this Anna Frodesiak! I AM THE SON OF BOB CAMERON AND IT IS SO HARD TO NAVIGATE THIS SITE, IT IS UNBELIEVABLE! HOW DO I GET THESE PEOPLE TO POST THE STORY OF MY DAD? ONE GUY ASKED FOR HIS DEATH CERTIFICATE AND I PROVIDED IT. IT SAY'S RIGHT ON THERE - CAUSE OF DEATH- THERMAL DESTRUCTION OF THE BODY. WHAT ELSE DO THEY WANT? I HAVE PROVIDED ARTICLES OF HIS DEATH. A COPY OF HIS 1952 DRIVER'S PIN, OLD NASCAR MEDALS AND 1949 NEW YORK STATE NASCAR CHAMPIONSHIP TROPHY AND SILVER PLATTER. he was burned alive in front of 4000 people on June 5th , 1960 amd the MoptorSports Hall of Fame was nice enough to add him Posthumously. Who is this women and why does she get stisfaction from having my Dad's name removed from the motorsports memorial?

Hi Royrizzo. Pictogram voting comment.svg This page is for questions about the Articles for creation process. Questions about edits on an existing article such as Motorsports Hall of Fame of America should be discussed on the talk page of that article.
If you wish to continue working on your draft (User:Royrizzo/sandbox) about your father, we can help you with that. The Associated Press story about his death is a good start. Are there more books or newspaper or magazine articles about races he competed in, perhaps one that says he was NASCAR track Champion at Brewerton Speedway in 1950? Unpublished emails may not be used as sources on Wikipedia. Is there a published news report of him being added to the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America? If you need assistance identifying sources, Wikipedia:WikiProject Motorsport may be able to help. They may also be able to help you navigate the intricacies of the notability guideline for Motorsport figures. --Worldbruce (talk) 16:20, 26 June 2016 (UTC)
When I reviewed your sandbox in February 2016, I asked that you put the references into standard Wikipedia format. Please see Referencing and Referencing for Beginners. If you need help, please ask for help. Also, please do not SHOUT. The use of ALL UPPER CASE is considering SHOUTING on the Internet and is considered rude. 19:30:21, 26 June 2016 review of submission by Arkachatterjea[edit]

I am a great admirer of wikipedia. I have made many entries and numerous corrections to existing entries. As a 53+ years old academic, I am not tech-savvy. I use whatever tools I can of wikipedia's increasingly complex editing tools and do my best.

Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay is arguably India's most popular novelist (please see wiki entry--parts of it were edited by me, but not all--esp the section about his recognition was done by others). Many people consider his work Nobel Prize material. However, English translations of his work has been poor, and that has prevented his great works from getting their recognition.

I created a summary of Sarat Chandra's short story "Paresh." Unfortunately, it has been deleted. Wiki is requiring greater citations (I, of course, referred to the original story in Bengali, available on a website which has all his works). This creates a chicken and egg problem: Unless there's a translation and citation, future works cannot happen. Where does one begin?

Sadly, so many insignificant people from the Indian subcontient (small time professors, ordinary artists, ...) create big entries about them in wiki while widely respected Sarat Chandra's prominent works get thrown out.

Arkachatterjea (talk) 19:30, 26 June 2016 (UTC)

Hi Arkachatterjea, welcome to the Articles for Creation Help Desk. Draft:Paresh was deleted because it was left unedited for six months. If you wish to retrieve it and continue working on it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. In most cases an administrator will restore it for you.
The draft was declined on 15 November 2015 for failing to show that the topic was notable. Because it was later deleted, I can't tell why the draft failed to meet the notability criteria, but it would not have had anything to do with the language of the story or that of the sources. If academics such as yourself have written a few articles in scholarly journals about "Pradesh", or spent a few pages discussing it in books, then citing those works would show that it's eligible for a Wikipedia article. It would only be a chicken-and-egg problem if publishers refused to publish analyses of "Pradesh" because it doesn't have an article on the English Wikipedia, something I hope no reputable publisher would be ignorant enough to do.
If "Pradesh" isn't a viable topic at this time, consider improving Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay or the three articles about books he wrote, all of which are in dire need of help. Or start an article about another one of his books. It can be easier to show notability of a book than of a short story because there are special notability criteria for books. --Worldbruce (talk) 00:42, 27 June 2016 (UTC)

I feel that I am getting somewhere with this article, but I am clearly still failing. I am really surprised that IMDB is not allowed, as I did not believe that it is a user site. I have found more articles online, and a couple of books, but I want to be sure that I am going in the right direction before I add more references.

Are the below acceptable?

13:44:53, 27 June 2016 review of submission by Kandsranch[edit]

Kandsranch (talk) 13:44, 27 June 2016 (UTC)

Hello,

Thank you for your response. I am confused. I had read through the concerns when an article is at jeopardy of not being "at arm's length" and thought I had met the requirements by showing transparency and validating with links to key resources like Forbes Magazine. The Lean Launchpad is currently mentioned on Steve Blank's wikipage but we thought it made sense to separate it since it was adopted by I-Corps which is a government agency program.

What would I need to be more transparent? If I need to note my relationship as an employee of K&S Ranch, where would I do this?

Thanks for taking the time - this is my first wiki experience.

All the best, Erikka Brickey

Hello, Kandsranch. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about in the article Draft:The Lean Launchpad / I-Corps, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, we ask that you please:

avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your family, friends, school, company, club, or organization, as well as any competing companies' projects or products; instead, you are encouraged to propose changes on the Talk pages of affected article(s) (see the {{request edit}} template); when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE); avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or to the website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM); exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies. In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please take a few moments to read and review Wikipedia's policies regarding conflicts of interest, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Thank you. Worldbruce (talk) 17:36, 20 June 2016 (UTC)

The draft in question is Draft:The Lean Launchpad / I-Corps. Follow the instructions in the paid editing policy as to where you shall disclose your connection. Robert McClenon (talk) 00:57, 28 June 2016 (UTC)
Kandsranch: As explained in the answer to your question here on 20 June, you have not validated with links to Forbes Magazine. The draft cites three Forbes blogs (www.forbes.com/sites), which, because they are neither peer reviewed nor subject to meaningful editorial oversight, are all but worthless on Wikipedia. --Worldbruce (talk) 13:01, 28 June 2016 (UTC)

13:57:52, 27 June 2016 review of submission by Nicwin10[edit]

My submission was declined because of "not enough reliable secondary sources and too much of a promotional tone." I would very much like to correct this submission so that it will be accepted. Please guide me on what I should change in the content to make it not so promotional. Though I believe that much of the content is factual information describing the programs of this organization.

Nicwin10 (talk) 13:57, 27 June 2016 (UTC)

Do you have an association with the Foundation? If so, please provide the conflict of interest disclosure, and, if necessary, the paid editing disclosure. Robert McClenon (talk) 15:03, 28 June 2016 (UTC)

23:24:53, 27 June 2016 review of submission by Evaki1972[edit]

Hello. I have been waiting about a month for a review of an article that I worked on with other wikipedia users for quite a few weeks. Just wondering how much longer the wait will be as it said about a week or longer. Thank you very much for your attention! :) Evaki1972 (talk) 23:31, 27 June 2016 (UTC)

Hi Evaki1972. Unfortunately, with the current backlog, a month is not an unusually long wait. The good news is that only about 20 drafts have been waiting longer than that, so you should have an answer fairly soon. --Worldbruce (talk) 13:18, 28 June 2016 (UTC)

Thank you Worldbruce. That is wonderful news!! Crossing my fingers! :) Evaki1972 (talk) 23:23, 28 June 2016 (UTC)

09:37:20, 28 June 2016 review of submission by 203.186.212.98[edit]

Hello, I drafted a profile for my client on Wiki one month ago. And I have provided enough reference for fact check. However, the status is still in reviewing. May I know what should I do to shorten the approval period?

It has been about three and a half weeks since the draft's latest review. With the current backlog, you can expect to wait another week or two for the next. If, when the draft is next reviewed, it can't be accepted, it will be sent back to you for improvement, after which it will start over at the end of the line. So use this time to improve the draft as much as you can. Is it clear where all of the draft's content came from? Does the bulk of the draft come from arms length independent sources, with only a minor part of it based on written by the organisation itself? --Worldbruce (talk) 13:58, 28 June 2016 (UTC)

I don´t know why my text wasn´t accepted. I don´t know where it is right now. How can I just make i appear in wiki? How har can this be? Please....? Veronika Eriksson (talk) 10:36, 28 June 2016 (UTC)

Hi Veronika Eriksson. The text you submitted is in your sandbox: User:Veronika Eriksson/sandbox. As explained in the answer to your question on 19 June, it was not accepted because (1) it is only a sentence fragment, (2) it appears to be in Swedish, and English Wikipedia can only accept articles written in English, and (3) because the submission makes no claim that the subject is significant or meets the notability criteria for inclusion in an encyclopedia. It also cites no sources and appears to be auto-biographical. You may use your user page to say a few words about yourself and your Wikipedia editing, but Wikipedia is not for advertising, public relations, or self-promotion. --Worldbruce (talk) 14:16, 28 June 2016 (UTC)

11:08:41, 28 June 2016 review of submission by Ina Matronics[edit]

Hello there again, I have been aksing a lot of times, but no one had answered until now. I have improved the article that was declined for submission. It is connected to other wikipedia pages. It has reliable links, from other websites and online pages, other than the official website of the company in question - Matronics. In the article , it has alsoan article from a newspaper, published online.

So, if you can help me with suggestions what am I still missing , so the articles get suitable for wikipedia ?? I would appreciate the help! Thanks in advanced !

Hi Ina Matronics. The draft is in the pool of submissions to be reviewed. With the current backlog, the wait time is about a month. Use the time to review all the links you've been directed to - on your talk page and on the draft - and apply the information in them to improve the draft as much as you can. --Worldbruce (talk) 14:29, 28 June 2016 (UTC)

15:42:48, 28 June 2016 review of submission by Brachney[edit]

Friends,

On June 25, 2016 I submitted my first article for consideration. The topic is Belief Perseverance (BP), and you can see the submission, and the reason it was declined, here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Belief_perseverance

It was declined because it’s written more like an essay than an entry in an encyclopedia

The reviewer, Omni Flame, later suggested that I incorporate the article into the Confirmation Bias (CP) article, making it part of the Confirmation Bias entry. I feel CB and BP are distinct, though overlapping. I feel moreover that not having a BP entry in Wikipedia is a glaring omission.

So, here is my request. I don’t know yet how to make entries more encyclopedic. Can someone help me revise this draft to conform to the guidelines? Better still, is anyone interested in taking this project over or collaborating so that this important psychological concept finally receive its own, belated, entry?

Thank you, Brachney Brachney (talk) 15:42, 28 June 2016 (UTC)

Hi Brachney, the best place to find someone to collaborate with you is at WP:WikiProject Psychology. That's where the topic spcialists hang out, so drop a request on the Talk page there. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 17:19, 28 June 2016 (UTC)

16:59:12, 28 June 2016 review of submission by Dcataneo[edit]

I understand that the queue for submissions is substantial. Cathy Luciano Harasta (sports columnist) has her birthday on July 1st

Might there be a way to expedite the approval of this submission?

Thank you kindly, Daniel Cataneo

Dcataneo (talk) 16:59, 28 June 2016 (UTC)

@Dcataneo: No. The three things written by Harasta and the Cinderella story that doesn't mention her do nothing to establish notability. I haven't looked at the book, but even if it's an independent, reliable source, there's no way the draft would ever be approved with only one such source. --Worldbruce (talk) 02:56, 29 June 2016 (UTC)

Request on 00:53:19, 29 June 2016 for assistance on AfC submission by Olkonol[edit]

Hi, my article on Organizational Anatomy was declined for a reason "This draft does not contain references that establish that Organizational Anatomy is considered notable by scholars in management and organizational studies." However, all appropriate links are included on the bottom of the page, a book "Organisational Anatomy" is published by a scientific publisher, the book is already in universities libraries from the USA to Australia. This concept and so, book is endorsed by leading academic and practical experts, such as fDi Magazine, Durham University Business School, UK Trade & Investment, National Chamber of Entreprenuership of Kazakhstan, Small Business Trends, and so on. I can't understand the reason for decline as being inappropriate in terms of management studies. Please advice, what should be done in terms of improvement. Anticipating your feedback, Best regards, olkonol

Olkonol (talk) 00:53, 29 June 2016 (UTC)

Hi Olkonol The draft says "organizational anatomy" is an approach first introduced by Konovalov in his book published on 1 May 2016. If that's true, it may be unrealistic of you to think that the world at large has taken significant note of the approach in a mere two months. To show that it has, multiple, independent, reliable sources would be needed. The draft cites three books, but one (written a decade before the concept was invented) does not contain the term, and the other two are by the same author, Konovalov, so for notability purposes they count as a single source. If the approach becomes notable, the draft will still need extensive work in terms of style and referencing. --Worldbruce (talk) 05:44, 29 June 2016 (UTC)

04:23:26, 29 June 2016 review of submission by Stringer92[edit]

Hello! I'm enquiring as I'd like some further information as to why my submission was rejected.

The reason cited was insufficient reliable sources, despite there being multiple from high profile referrers - the main being Vice, Pedestrian TV and HypeMachine - all which qualify the sites legitimacy.

Furthermore, the Wiki guidelines state that e-commerce sites are substantial reliable sources. Our resource list shows a reference from one e-commerce site where the magazine is sold (as I believed it to be the most relevant). If this is not enough to prove the magazine's legitimacy, I can provide many more e-commerce sites (with a higher profile) that can do so.

Lastly, the magazine is now listed in the holdings of the Library of NSW - which can be viewed here.

Any help would be fantastic!

I am new to Wikipedia editing. Have had trouble uploading a photo to go with the article despite its author having granted unlimited use. I haven't found where to direct the author's message so as to enable me to upload the photo. Grateful for any help.Atloius (talk) 00:00, 30 June 2016 (UTC) Atloius (talk) 00:00, 30 June 2016 (UTC)

What do you mean by "author"? Who took the photograph? Who owns the intellectual property rights in the photograph, if they are not owned by the photographer, why not? --Orange Mike | Talk 00:25, 30 June 2016 (UTC)
Hi Atloius You may find Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission and Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials useful. The first has a section explaining what to do when permission is confirmed. Read it in context, it's important that you ask the right person for the right permission. --Worldbruce (talk) 02:12, 30 June 2016 (UTC)

Request on 03:43:48, 30 June 2016 for assistance on AfC submission by Sammus09[edit]

Article not accepted due to "references do not adequately show the subject's notability."

Hello - my page has been denied because the "references do not adequately show the subject's notability." I have contacted the award provider and they do not keep an online record of winners as far back as 2011 & 2012. We do however have the physical awards that I'd be happy to submit an image of if that would help verify? Also a contact at the organisation (B&T) would be happy to clarify this in writing. Thanks Sam
