Happy National Sunglasses Day! Every morning—whether it’s sunny or cloudy, summer or winter—people put on their protective eyewear before they head out the door.

But no one rocks the functional and fashionable accessory cooler than a musician. So to celebrate, we're highlighting some of the best styles that came down the red carpet at last night's BET Awards.

From singer Alicia Keys to rapper 2 Chainz, both men and women brought their shade game. To get the look, Femail rounded up a few of our favorite styles out this seasons. Plus, scroll down to watch how a pair of sunglasses from rock-star-favored brand A-morir Eyewear are made.

Beat of their own drums: While Questlove of The Roots rocked mosaic shields, Rapper 2 Chainz went for a classic brow-bar aviator, and singer/songwriter Eric Benet stunned in purple mirrored lenses

When you've had a hand in creating the neo-soul movement, you can pretty much wear anything you want and drummer Ahmir Khalib Thompson, better known as Questlove, 45,did not disappoint.

The co-founder of hip-hop/neo-soul group, the Roots, stood out from the crowd in a pair of colorful mosaic frames.

Rapper Tauheed Epps, a.k.a 2 Chainz, struck a pose in a patched denim jacket by Gucci and brow-bar gold-frame aviators.

Why blend in with so many standout frames on the market? Singer/songwriter Eric Benet played matchy-matchy pairing his purple shirt with purple reflective lenses.
