=== ORGANIZATIONAL PROCESS + INFO

LAYER 1
12 agendas were synthesized from online and live processes performed for the “Curating Performance Art as Artistic Practice” conference in Berlin (organized by Jöern Burmester and the Association for Performance Art Berlin, May 2015) and as an interview-diagram essay with Lital Dotan, Hector Canonge, Whitney Hunter, and Jill McDermid by Esther Neff. The results of this diagrammatic interview process are the first layer of collective and individuated inquiry informing 12 days of performative social organization, pulling together a few months of discussion and work across multiple performance communities. In addition to e-mailed invitations, an open call for abstracts in response to the following 12 agendas was released as widely as possible, with a deadline of August 10, 2015:

AGENDA: to be without agenda
AGENDA: to create something i want to be a part of
AGENDA: to resist and reduce
AGENDA: to keep going
AGENDA: to pursue ideation
AGENDA: to move towards multiplicity and flexibility
AGENDA: to liberate the self
AGENDA: to escape from hellwor(l)ds
AGENDA: to become a symbol of freedom and glorious madness
AGENDA: to feel things with other people
AGENDA: to push my own abilities
AGENDA: to dismantle capitalism

LAYER 2
Approx. 100+ abstract-proposals are received, subjective selection is performed, situations are scheduled. Abstracts are published online in order of agenda at panoplylab.org/quinquennial.

LAYER 3
Public interfacings, presentations, performances, and situated conferencing, October 5-25 2015, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays at Grace Exhibition Space and Panoply Performance Laboratory, in Brooklyn NY.

PERFORMANCY FORUM QUINQUENNIAL is the 5th Anniversary of PERFORMANCY FORUM, a flexible platform and public forum for performance and social art outside of institutions and art markets. PF is organized by Esther Neff/PPL, following other “conferences of works” MODE METHOD MEDIUM and OPERATIONS + PARTICIPATIONS (both 2011), larger-scale communally organized initiatives in the public-domain name of “BIPAF,” such as Brooklyn International Performance Art Festival (2013) as well as many other exhibitions, exchanges and events held across and throughout a global community of socio-ethically connected performance makers and scholars. While this conference partially substantiates, celebrates and bears witness to a recent past of 5 years, it does not culminate, survey, or claim “ownership” of any discipline, modes of practice, art-historical time period, or sequences of cooperation; PF is a subjective open-source performative system, constructed by participants and organizers in adaptation to temporary and situational presences and processes. During PF QUINQ we performatively self-reflect and critically examine our actions, attitudes, abilities, and agendas in conference.
