2 July 2016 – Max Verstappen reckons his criticism of the new kerbs installed at the Red Bull Ring was justified by the incidents in Saturday's sessions.
Verstappen claimed a wall would be better than the yellow exit kerbs after two impacts in FP1, the second damaging his front suspension.
Nico Rosberg, Sergio Pérez and Daniil Kvyat also suffered apparent suspension failures over the course of FP3 and qualifying, raising safety fears.
When asked after qualifying if he felt his words were vindicated by the on track drama, Red Bull racer Verstappen replied: "I think so.
"You can clearly see what happened. I experienced it yesterday."
Verstappen added: "All of the drivers were very happy with the kerbs [after Friday's practice sessions], so maybe now they are not so happy, some of them."
Verstappen hopes there are changes ahead of the race.
"Definitely in Turn 8; that one is pretty dangerous," he said.
"At Turns 5 and 6 you don't hit them so easily, but it's a similar approach. You could see when Daniil hit the yellow kerb [at Turn 8] the vibrations on his suspension was massive."
"The astroturf was perfect, just perfect – last year it was fine."
Verstappen also hit back at people who criticised his comments about the kerbs, stating: "Maybe we can exchange, let them drive the car, and see what they think about it."
