UPDATE: GONE TO RESCUE!!! A big thank you to SPIRITS HOMESTRETCH.
In a tragic, heartbreaking situation, Shasta was surrendered to the Daviess County Animal Shelter in Owensboro, Kentucky. Shasta's owner, barely able to walk or talk, accompanied by a family member arrived at the shelter with his dog and sadly whispered he was no longer able to care for his 12-year-old little Shih Tzu friend. The man's cancer had worsened, and he now depended on others. Sadly, his tiny best friend needed much more than he would now ever again be able to give her.
When volunteers from the group Friends of Daviess County Animal Shelter asked if there was anything they could do to help the bonded man and his dog together, he admitted he was just too ill. And now 12-year-old Shasta, who had always been well groomed and at a healthy weight, is not doing well in the shelter; no matter how hard the staff and volunteers try to accommodate the lonely, extremely sweet senior pooch, she is heartbroken and lonely for her home.
Although she may have cataracts from her advancing age, and has some trouble with her eyesight, Shasta is a loving little gal who misses her human companion; life for seniors in shelters is extremely difficult. Please share Shasta's plight with approved rescue organizations, friends, family and social media contacts. Imagine how her human companion will be able to find some comfort knowing his little friend has found a safe and loving home. Follow Shasta's Facebook page here.
