Prince's old backing band The Revolution will reunite for two shows in Minneapolis to pay tribute to the late musical icon

And while Prince may have moved on from The Revolution in 1986, the band are set to pay tribute to the late musical icon by reuniting for two special shows.
Following the Kiss singer's death in April, the band are planning to pay tribute to him at the club in Minneapolis where they filmed the Purple Rain movie.

Playing two consecutive shows on September 2 and 3, the band - who backed Prince till 1986 - at First Avenue, in the Minnesota city where they formed.
Following Prince's tragic and sudden death in April, when the singer was found unresponsive in a lift at his estate in Minneapolis, the band said they were in a state of mourning.
After learning of his passing, the band issued a statement, saying his death was a 'profound loss' which left them feeling 'apocalyptic grief'.

The line-up of the band for the gigs will be: Wendy Melvoin, Lisa Coleman, Brownmark, Dr Fink, and Bobby Z.
And special guests at the gigs will include Dez Dickerson and Andre Cymone, who were Prince’s sidemen early in his career.
The band broke-up shortly after their momentous Purple Reign era ended, however, they did reunite with the singer for a brief period in 2012.
In May it was revealed that he died of a self-administered Fentanyl overdose according to an autopsy report released on Thursday by the Midwest Medical Examiner's Office.
The Little Red Corvette singer's death was ruled an accident, and the only listed cause on the medical examiner's report was 'Fentanyl toxicity'.
The autopsy report also revealed that the 5ft 3in singer weighed just 112lbs at the time of his death.
