Speaking on This Morning, she said: 'We have to MOT our cars. Most of us see the dentist preventatively, so why don't we apply that to our marriages before problems become massive.

'We're not argumentative people, and that's a healthy part of a relationship. You need to learn to communicate constructively.'

And she explained that her husband, Ben, was also keen on the idea of reviewing their relationship on an annual basis and that it helped keep their marriage healthy.

Marina said: 'Ben was totally up for it. We didn't get to the stage that we needed to go see a marriage counselor.'

However, the couple haven't always had it easy and Marina tragically had a stillbirth at 32 weeks, in 2014.

But the blonde stunner revealed that even in such devastating circumstances, it was being able to talk to each other that helped them through.

She said: 'After the birth of our stillborn son we saw a grief counselor and that really helped us - we ended up learning a lot about each other in the process.

'It morphed into marriage counselling and it made me realise that actually it does work.

'If you talk to someone who understands a bit more than most people as to how our minds work it's constructive rather than destructive.

'Get someone to say let's think outside the box and you come to a resolution.'

Marina was being interviewed by Rylan and Dan Clark-Neal, who presented the show together for the first time on Friday.

Speaking of their own marriage, Dan said: 'We do argue and it doesn't worry me, we're both very passionate people.'

However, he agreed that sometimes the pair do struggle to understand each other.

He continued: 'We never really understand why the other person feels that way and a therapist can help the understanding.'

But Marina revealed that as well as counselling she also believes that space is important and that absence makes the heart grow fonder.

She said: 'I think being away from each other as a couple is a good thing too, I get really excited about seeing him again.

'If he's there every evening you turn into flatmates rather than lovers.'
