Johnny Manziel was spotted for the first time since leaving Mexico last week and starting his sobriety as he celebrated his new Beverly Hills home rental.

A photo of the former football star was posted on the LA Estate Rentals Instagram page with the caption: 'Your comeback has begun today. Congrats on your new #home in #LA. Thanks for being a great client! #laestaterentals is here to support you! #dontbelievethemedia #johnnymanziel #manziel #johnnyfootball #legend.'

A healthy and happy Johnny is seen smiling in the photo with a bandanna wrapped around his head and a large rip in the crotch of his pants.

In the comments LA Estate Rentals noted this was the seventh home Manziel had rented from them and said they had no problems with him in the past.

The company also wrote: 'Everyone deserves a chance to have a fresh start. We know him very well and can tell you that we have had no issues in the past 4.5 months. We know how to manage our homes and clients so it's a win-win for all.'

Manziel is hoping his sobriety will be the first step towards getting him back in the NFL, a dream that seems a long way off to many.

Many on social media even posted a photo on Friday first shared by Sports Blog that showed his Cleveland Browns jerseys were on sale for $1.99 at an undisclosed store.

The once bright star - who won the Heisman Trophy when he was just a teenager as a redshirt freshman at Texas A&M - seemed to have no cares as he drank, smoked and partied in full view of tourists and locals.

Those days of bar-hopping are now over though, and even then a future in football is not a promise for the athlete formerly known as Johnny Football.

Manziel - who has twice been to rehab, most recently completing a lengthy program in April 2015 - has yet to give any specific details about his sobriety plan, which is the first of many steps he will need to take to get back to work.

He ultimately needs to convince one of the 32 teams in the league that he is still ready to play after a rough rookie start that he followed up with a dismal second season both on and off the field, with allegations he jetted off to Las Vegas and Texas to party against the orders of his coaches.

In the end, his four-year contract was cut short halfway through, though Manziel did get to keep all of the $8.2million he was promised after being selected in the first round of the 2014 draft.

For his last hurrah, Manziel and some model pals set up shop in a $7.5million Mexican mansion last week that offered two pools, stunning views, a waterfall and even an exercise room, whose full-length mirrors were a popular filming location for the women on the trip who were looking to post photos of their bathing suits to social media.

The group of tourists spent time away from their envy-inducing rental as well, with trips to beach bars and nightclubs alongside their soon to be sober friend also a big part of the vacation itinerary.

Manziel seemed to live it up more than any of the other Cabo guests as he strolled along the beach in a bandanna that read 'F***ED UP' and smoked a suspicious cigarette in full public view on Tuesday, just hours after he and friends like Playboy Playmate Daisy Lea landed in the country.

He also wore a Josh Gordon jersey that same day as he puffed away, his former Browns teammate and friend who was suspended from the league for an entire season after failing a drug test.

Two days later, as his Cabo trip came to a close, Manziel was issued a four-game suspension to commence at the start of the 2016 season for a substance abuse violation.

At this time the suspension has little impact on Manziel, who remains a free agent, but it does eliminate even the slight possibility of any team drafting the quarterback for this upcoming season.

Manziel, who is still younger than almost every quarterback in the league, will now have to start looking towards the 2017 season.

He is still getting paid over the next two seasons whether he plays or not thanks to his Browns contract.
