Euro 2016 might not have reach its conclusion and the Premier League season is still some way off but Jurgen Klopp is already running the rule over his Liverpool players.

The Anfield boss has summoned his squad back for pre-season training and put the Reds through a training session on Wednesday with a number of his team's superstars on show.

New £34million signing Sadio Mane was involved at Melwood, days after completing his switch from Southampton, while Brazilian forward Roberto Firmino was also in action.

Defender Joel Matip played a part in the session, having recently finalised his switch from Bundesliga outfit Schalke, while Marko Grujic was involved after successfully securing a work permit on Monday.

The Liverpool squad seemed in good spirits, helped by Klopp's contagious smile, as their manager took part in the drills and barked orders throughout.

One player who might not be returning for pre-season with Liverpool is Joe Allen.

The 26-year-old could move to Sevilla this summer after the La Liga club's sporting director confirmed the midfielder 'fits the profile' for a move to Spain.

Monchi could sanction an approach for the Welshman, who has impressed for Chris Coleman's side during their European Championship adventure.

'I don't like talking about players who aren't Sevilla,' Monchi told Estadio Deportivo.

'Ganso and Joe Allen are not the only ones on the list. They fit the profile, but they don't have to be the ones who come.'

Liverpool are preparing for the start of the Premier League campaign on August 13, when they travel to Arsenal.

Klopp's team are due to face domestic friendlies against Tranmere, Fleetwood, Huddersfield and Wigan before taking part in the Intercontinental Champions Cup.

The Reds will play AC Milan, Chelsea, Roma and Barcelona as they build up for the new season.
