This is the shocking moment bullfighter Victor Barrio, 29, was gored to death by a bull called Lorenzo in the first fatality in Spain involving a matador this century. Barrio's wife of two years, Raquel Sanz, left, was in a crowd at the time of the horrific incident. The 32-year-old journalist had arranged for a group of supporters to attend the fight from their home town of Sepulveda, where she had run to become mayor. Medics battled to save Barrio's life, but the bull speared him through the lung and ruptured one of the main arteries leading from his heart. It is expected that Lorenzo the bull as well as his mother will be killed in the coming days to wipe out his bloodline as part of the tradition when a Matador is killed. Although deaths from Spain's famous bull runs are relatively common, with up to around 10 deaths recorded each year, worldwide the last matador death was in 1987.
