'Silly billy': Melanie Sykes, 45, expresses regret over getting strawberry hip tattoo as she displays her washboard abs in yet another alluring bikini selfie

Thanks to her long-running devotion to fitness and living a healthy lifestyle, it's hard to image that Melanie Sykes would ever look at her own body and feel even a modicum of regret.

Yet when the TV personality took to her Instagram account to share a shot of her washboard abs on Sunday, she revealed that she does take issue with a tattoo she got 24 years ago.

As she soaked up the rays in Mallorca while wearing a skimpy white bikini, the star displayed a small strawberry tattoo that sat at the top of her hip - and called herself a 'silly billy' for ever getting it.

'Tanning breaks... must knuckle down to work #temptation #mallorca #poolside,' she captioned the shot. 'And yes I have a strawberry tattoo had it done in LA when I was 21yrs. #sillybilly.'

Last week, Mel shared shots of herself relaxing at a Champneys Spa, where she shared selfies of her enviably fit physique.

And in spite of Mel having a figure most could only dream of, she detailed her personal body insecurities in a new blog post on her website over the weekend.

Melanie told her fans she has struggled to accept parts of her body like many other women, including her 'heavy and bulky' thighs and 'flat' derriere.

The fitness fan wrote: 'I think a lot of women’s insecurities can mainly be body issues. I am often asked which bits of my body I don’t like and the answer is, I know I am a healthy person, so I do think I am lucky. I do look alright and most importantly, everything works.

'My thighs have a tendency to be heavy and bulky, so I have to be careful whilst building my bottom, that I don’t build my thighs in the process.

'Cellulite, again is another demon for women and of course I have some.'

The TV personality admitted having the spotlight shining on her figure because of her career can often exacerbate her woes.

She added: 'There’s nothing like a shoot and being half naked in front a roomful of people to make you feel insecure, and all I could focus on was “Do my thighs look to big for this outfit?”

'I have my low confidence days and low-energy days where I don’t want meet up with people.'

She also talks of her boob job and how she has no regrets for having her chest cosmetically altered, revealing: 'My body started to look quite athletic and the boobs were just looking worse and worse, and not in keeping with my new found shape.

'They are a little bigger than the originals and a damn sight perkier. I have never regretted them.'

She ended the candid blog post on a reassuring note to her female followers:  'Remember, we all have down days. It’s part of life and that’s what makes us human.'

Melanie finalised her divorce from second husband Jack Cockings, 29, last month, two and a half years after their initial split.

The TV presenter met the roofer on Twitter and, after embarking on a one-year romance, the pair wed in May 2013.

Matrimonial bliss lasted just seven months before they split in December 2013 following a blazing row.

Speaking to The Sun's Fabulous magazine, the TV presenter reflected: 'The divorce was the easy bit. (The hard bit was) being married to the wrong person.'

Melanie has two sons, Roman, 14, and Luca, 12, from her first marriage to actor Daniel Caltagirone, who she split from in 2008.
