A seaside amusement arcade has been ordered to pay back more than £300 to an eight-year-old girl because she failed to win a single prize.

Kayleigh Harrison, of Hull, East Yorkshire, said her young daughter had saved up her pocket money to use at Forum Amusements in Bridlington while on holiday with her grandparents.

But despite winning a whopping 13,000 tickets, which was enough for the ‘star’ prizes including a mobile phone, DVD player and speakers, the arcade refused to give her the winnings.

Ms Harrison said: ‘My daughter put a year's worth of savings into her piggy bank. She had been really looking forward to it and put pretty much all of her money in, which was a minimum of £300.

‘She won over 13,000 tickets, which is a lot to have, and she was desperate to have the prizes they had on offer.

'But when she went to get it, they just said they were pricing the items up and she'd have to go back the next day. They kept on saying that until her holiday ended.

'They wouldn't let her have the prizes she had won, and they wouldn't get in contact with me.’

Ms Harrison said she had been repeatedly ‘fobbed off’ as she tried to contact the arcade manager and had no option but to take the amusements arcade to Hull County Court.

The court ruled the company had to pay the family £340 by July 4, but Ms Harrison is still waiting to receive the money. ‘I rang them and tried to contact them but they never got back to me,’ she said.

‘It's a ridiculous situation. The kids are now breaking up for their school holidays and I want to stop other parents putting their money into the machines because they are not going to win anything.

‘That place is just going to make a hell of a lot of money on some child's back if the same thing happens again. It was meant to be a fun week but this ruined it.

‘I don't want anyone else to have the same. I'm now trying to get the money back through the court because I can't afford to get her a mobile phone. All my money has gone into the court case.’

Like Ms Harrison, journalists have also been having trouble getting a response from the arcade.

When contacted today, an employee at Forum Amusements referred MailOnline to the centre’s head office but declined to provide the company’s name or contact details before hanging up.

A court spokesman told MailOnline that papers on the small claims case were issued on February 23, before judgement was given on June 27.

The judgement was for £315 for the claim and interest and £25 costs, totalling £340. The court added that it had not been notified by the claimant that the money had been paid.
