Hilary Duff 'increases security after obsessed fan tries to track down her home with marriage proposal'

Hilary Duff has reportedly been warned by police that an obsessed fan is trying to find her home.

The actress is said to have increased security at the gated community where she lives in Beverly Hills after learning that a man pursued her down with a marriage proposal, earlier this month.

According to TMZ, mum-of-one Hilary, 28, has not yet sought a restraining order against the individual - thought to be known to her team - but she now has more bodyguards with her.

The police were forced to approach Hilary in recent weeks following claims from a limousine driver who carried the would-be stalker in his vehicle.

The unnamed male fan is said to have hired the car with a picture of the property and spent two hours searching for her home address while describing his hopes of marrying Hilary. 

The 28-year-old actress was contacted by officers in Beverley Hills after they became concerned about the unnamed man's odd behaviour.

When their car journey was over, the driver was so worried that he called the police, who then contacted Hilary's team.

Insiders claims the former Lizzie McGuire star's security team know who the man is and what he looks like as they've had issues with him in the past.

However, Hilary - who has a four-year-old son, Luca - is yet to file a police report. A representative for Hilary Duff has been contacted by MailOnline for comment. 

In 2007, an 18-year-old man was sent to prison for stalking Hilary.

Maksim Myaskovskiy was sentenced to 117 days in jail and five years probation after pleading no contest to the charges.

He was arrested Hilary and her then-boyfriend Joel Madden, sought a restraining order against him and his roommate, celebrity photographer David Joseph Klein, 50, though they dropped the latter in December.
