'Confidence is attractive': Spencer Matthews discusses what he looks for in a lady as he opens-up about his personal life and struggles with body image in the past

He's one of the nation's most famous lotharios, thanks to his time on Made In Chelsea.

And now Spencer Matthews has revealed what he looks for in a lady, as the 27-year-old reality star explained 'confidence' was key, as well as a good 'sense of humour'.

Chatting to Christian Williams on his Virgin Radio breakfast show, Spencer detailed what exactly catches his eye when it comes to the fairer sex.

In the the interview, due to be aired over the weekend, the reality star and Chelsea Casanova - whose exes include Louise Thompson and Lauren Hutton - explained a genuine personality was a must.

Speaking about his reputation when it came to being a master dater, the ladies' man said: 'I wouldn’t call myself a master.'

And delving into what specifically catches his eye, Spencer - who is currently dating Morgan Robert - said: 'I think compatibility’s very important, so you [need to find] someone that you can be yourself around. 

'If you have a sense of humour, use it. Just try not to take things too seriously. Nervousness is very unattractive.'

And marking his last point out, he elaborated, explaining:  'Confidence is attractive, not to be confused with arrogance – very fine line.'

But the focus of the chat wasn't just related to the former E4 reality star's love life, as he also opened up about his issues with weight as a child.

Spencer, who was forced to leave I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! after admitting he was taking steroids, has cut a chiseled figure on the nation's screen for many a year.

A theme tune too! He explained he was teased over the issued, recalling: 'I didn’t get the nickname ‘Fatty Matthews’ for nothing. I even had a theme tune at school. A couple of little kids used to sing it at me'

But speaking about his youth, the reality star and former stock broker explained he'd ballooned at school thanks to a diet of steak and chips.

The old Etonian explained his weight became an issue for him at the school, as other boys would sing a song which took inspiration from a nickname bestowed on him, Fatty Matthews.

Reflecting on the whole affair, he said: 'When I was a young child I had the same dinner every night for a while. I had steak and chips every night and got ill from it.... And large. 

'I didn’t get the nickname ‘Fatty Matthews’ for nothing. I even had a theme tune at school. A couple of little kids used to sing it at me. We were mates.... Sort of, and It went: “Fatty Matthews – barely fits through huge quadruple doors”.'

But clearly still not impressed with the lyrical content he quipped: 'I could fit through normal doors so it wasn’t fair and didn’t make sense.'
