UVA-educated Army Captain came to America as a baby then ran towards suicide bomber in

As a child growing up in Silver Springs, Maryland, he read extensively about Thomas Jefferson and planned to be a lawyer, like his father, after graduating from the University of Virginia. He joined the Army to pay his way through law school and joined up just after 9/11. While serving his country in Iraq in 2004, at the age of 27, he was killed as he ran towards a suicide bomber who had burst into his base in a taxi - and probably saved the lives of hundreds of soldiers. Khan was just three months into his first tour of duty as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom.  He has posthumously been awarded the Bronze Star Medal and the Purple Heart. But his story, and his legacy, hit the headlines again last week when his parents Pakistani-American parents, Khizr and Ghazala Khan, gave a powerful speech to the Democratic convention. They slammed Donald Trump for not having the empathy to run the country, and said he he had never made any sacrifices. Since then the Republican presidential nominee has been criticized for saying the grieving parents 'viciously attacked' him.

Donald Trump has made a huge mistake in insulting the wrath of Khan

PIERS MORGAN: Stop Donald, STOP. I'm not a political strategist but if I was, then my first rule for running a presidential campaign would be this: never pick a fight with the grieving family of an American soldier slain whilst serving his country. It's a fight, as Trump is now discovering, that you can't possibly win, not least in the court of public opinion. But he's not the only villain here. Hillary Clinton, lest we forget, voted for the war which killed Captain Khan. And there's a stinking hypocrisy to Hillary's very deliberate deployment of the Khans

A certain ladies' man in the Clinton family is getting a whole lot of social media attention these days, and it's not Bill.
