'I might have his heartbeat on my body for the rest of my life': Céline Dion, 48, reveals she may get a tattoo tribute to her late husband René Angélil

  • Céline's husband passed away in January after a battle with throat cancer, a subject which she touches on in a new Vogue video interview
  • The couple have three children: René-Charles, 15, and twins Nelson and Eddy, age five
  • Céline also talked fashion, noting that she always picks style over comfort because: 'The day you start thinking about comfort, you're getting old'

Céline Dion is a bit wary of tattoos, considering the way they can change and sag as a person ages — but she's considering making an exception for a very sentimental bit of ink.

After the 48-year-old superstar's husband René Angélil passed away at the age of 73 in January, following a battle with throat cancer, Céline has begun warming to the idea of getting a tattoo in his memory.

'Since my husband passed away, they can make a tattoo [of] his heartbeat, so I might have his heartbeat on my body for the rest of my life,' she told Vogue in a new video interview.

She added: 'I've seen so many people that they have tattoos when they're young, and then they get older and it changes... It's goin' down. It's gravity baby.'

However, it seems clear that even if this tattoo were to become a victim of gravity, Céline would be unlikely to regret the tribute to the father of her three children, René-Charles, 15, and twins Nelson and Eddy, age five.

The couple married in 1994, though they'd met back in 1980, when Céline was just 12 and René, then 38, discovered her as a young singer.

Céline was a bit more lighthearted with some of her other answers in a game of This or That, which she played for the video.

When asked if she preferred fashion over comfort, the consummate performer poo-pooed the idea of dressing down.

'I don't care about comfort,' she said. 'The day you start thinking about comfort, you're getting old.'

She did, however, pick the chic but relaxed pajama trend over stiff pantsuits, saying: 'It's got to be a pajama that you can go to the Oscar[s] with.'

She's also clearly still a fan of sweatshirts and hoodies, as long as they make a style statement. When asked to choose between a Balenciaga dress she recently wore and the $885 Titanic sweatshirt by French designer Vetements she was spotted sporting in July, the My Heart Will Go on Singer made it clear that it was an easy decision.

'I love the Balenciaga dresses... but the Titanic [hoodie] was special,' she said.

A few Canada-centric questions were also squeezed into the interview, with Céline asked if she favored fellow singer Justin Beiber or Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

She picked the Sorry singer, but pulled a face that seemed to indicate she felt guilty about the choice.

As far as whether she prefers her current home of Las Vegas or her hometown of Montréal or Vegas, nostalgia won out  — though it was a tough call. In fact, Céline began singing her answer, crooning that she didn't like like the question at all.

But though she noted that she loves Las Vegas 'because it gives me the opportunity to, as an artist, to perform, for my fans', if she really had to pick, it's Montréal all the way.
