She spent the day on board a luxury yacht with her family.

But Beyonce's mother Tina Knowles was not merely in the mood to soak up the sun, as she decided to make a splash by jumping off the second floor of their vessel.

The 62-year-old was already in position to plummet into the water when her inquisitive four-year-old granddaughter Blue Ivy raised some concerns about her grandmother's ability to swim, interjecting off-camera, 'Do you really know how to swim?'

Blue's blunt question seemed to catch Tina off-guard, as she ended up laughing in response.

The hilarious interaction was captured in a video, shared to Tina's Instagram account on Sunday.

A friend reassured the tot that her grandmother did know how to swim before a second voice could be heard off-camera, 'She's gonna make someone reconsider!'

Undeterred, Tina leapt off the vessel.

When she surfaced, the star gave her friends a positive hand gesture.

Tina explained in the video's caption that the plunge off the second floor gave her the courage to go for an even higher jump.

Standing at the edge of the yacht's third floor, Tina stood still for several moments before taking her second 'leap of faith.'

Tina seemed to have an intention behind her jump.

She explained in one of her three videos posted that day, 'My leap of faith is that the world in 2017 is gonna be a better, safer place. So that is my leap of faith'.

Tina has joined her daughter Beyonce and son-in-law Jay Z for a trip through France.

The First Family of music has been staying aboard a luxury yacht in Nice while Beyonce is in the midst of her Formation World Tour's European leg.

The Hold Up hit-maker will next be travelling to Spain for a concert in Barcelona on Wednesday.

Beyonce will then be returning to the US where she has several shows throughout September, and concludes her tour in Nashville on October 2.

No doubt the mother-of-one is looking forward to some time off following the tour, which she has been performing in since April.

Meanwhile, earlier this week it was revealed that Beyonce has scored 11 nominations for this year's MTV Video Music Awards.

It's the highest amount the singer has ever raked in for the awards, and the highest any artist has received this year.

Beyonce's whopping 11 nods are thanks to her album Lemonade, with Formation up for Video Of The Year, Best Pop Video, Best Choreography, Best Direction, Best Cinematography and Best Editing.
