Margot has competition! Ruby Rose reveals she wants to be the next Bond girl amid rumours fellow Australian Robbie will scoop the role

Her career has been going from strength-to-strength since she landed her break-out role on Orange Is The New Black.

And Ruby Rose, 30, has revealed that she has her sights set on one of Hollywood's most coveted roles right now- the new female lead in the James Bond franchise.

While the casting for the new installment of the James Bond franchise has yet to begin, Ruby made her intentions known via Instagram on Wednesday by sharing a snap of herself posing in a bikini, along with the caption: 'I'd like to be the next Bond girl please, I've been practicing all week haha.'

Ruby is no stranger to playing a feisty action-loving femme fatale - having almost exclusively undertaken such roles on the silver screen in films such as Resident Evil: The Final Chapter and xXx: The Return Of Xander Cage.

However, the tattoo-loving beauty isn't the only Australian in the running for the role of the newest Bond Girl - Margot Robbie is reportedly a hot favourite according to online bookies.

The internet has also been sent abuzz with rumours that smouldering sirens Emily Blunt, Emily Ratajkowski and Emma Watson are also being considered for the role.

Meanwhile, Tom Hiddleston is rumoured to be taking the reigns of James Bond's character from Daniel Craig.

Ruby and Tom aren't strangers - they recently partied together in Rhode Island during Taylor Swift's beach-side Independence Day bash.

Part-time DJ Ruby recently defended her friend Taylor's relationship with Tom after fans lashed out at the singer for sparking a new romance just weeks after breaking up with her ex Calvin Harris.

Taking to Twitter with an essay about celebrity relationships, Ruby Tweeted: 'I feel like this is the mentality fans have on celebrity relationships.. I get it that they invest in couples and root for them and it's sweet, but that relationship is still only between two people'.

She later added: 'so if a woman moves on from a relationship 8 months (or 2 weeks) after a breakup isn't that beautiful?'

'That someone can still continue to open their hearts to people despite times in their lives it's been broken..'
