Britney basks in Glory! Spears announces surprise new album... which she says is 'very chill'

Her devoted fans have waited three years for this moment. 

And their patience paid off, as Britney Spears announced on Wednesday that a surprise new album, Glory, will be released at the end of the month.

The 34-year-old surprised her 12million Instagram followers with a picture of the album artwork - which is a close up of the blonde beauty in a white lace top and choker.

She wrote: 'My new album & the beginning of a new era. Available 8/26 on@applemusic. Pre-order tonight at midnight ET and get #PrivateShow instantly.'

The announcement comes after the Grammy-winning entertainer on July 15 released a new single, 'Make Me,' featuring rapper G-Eazy.

'Make Me' follows a saucy storyline with lyrics referring to a steamy sex session, as the Kentwood, Louisiana native sings: 'No rules/From the butt of the car, let's take it back to my room/Igniting the heat of the woman; let the sparks fuse/Blowing up to the ceiling, we're burning bright/When we cross the line.'

The steamy single continues, 'I just want you to make me move like it ain't a choice for you, like you got a job to do/Just want you to raise my roof, something sensational. And make me...'

The mother-of-two - who has sons Jayden, aged nine years, and Sean, 10, with her ex-husband Kevin Federline - has been working on the forthcoming album for two years and admitted the delay was due to putting her family before her music.

The Oops!... I Did It Again singer previously said: 'I'm gonna do [a new album] slowly but surely. There's a lot going on with my kids and schools and, you know, adding new sports and stuff like that. I'm gonna try to do my best to do an amazing album, but it's not my full priority right now.'

Meanwhile, Britney has teased the new record will not be quite the same brand of pop she's famous for.

'It's my baby,' the Toxic singer explained. 'A little melodic, a little more not so poppy. It's kind of chill; very chill.'

Glory is slated to be released on August 26 on Apple Music, and fans will get an instant download of the new song Private Show with a pre-order.

She told ET about the single, 'Private Show is inevitably a sexy song and it promotes feeling sexy and girls feeling alive and I think that’s fun for girls.'
