Tatt's... interesting! Sheridan Smith is left stunned as she's greeted by mega-fan with her FACE inked on her leg

It's safe to say Sheridan Smith has seen a number of weird and wacky things during her career on stage and screen.

But the West End star was left positively stunned when she was greeted by an enthused fan who had her face tattooed on her leg, upon leaving another performance of the acclaimed Funny Girl at the Savoy Theatre on Friday night.

Unable to contain her mix of shock and astonishment, the 35-year-old star nervously giggled as she grabbed onto the girl's leg for further inspection.

However, the actress - who was casually clad in a skintight white jumper and black jeans - looked as though she was somewhat pleased with the declaration of admiration.

And the fan ensured Smith took her time to see the outcome of all her hard work and pain as she hobbled on one leg.

The inking itself was a tight shot of the multi-talented star's face as she sported perfect bangs, hoop earrings and a large grin.

And the initial shock wore off, Sheridan couldn't seem to wipe the smile from her face as she stared at the image of herself, which made a change from the usual frenzy of fan selfies after her show.

Last week, Sheridan received a warm reception when she returned to the West End following a short break due to stress.

The actress returned to the role of Fanny Brice on 8 July following time off for stress and exhaustion, but producers feared her prolonged stints talking to devotees would leave her tired - especially as temperatures recently soared into the 30s in London.

In a statement, producers Sonia Friedman, David Babani and Scott Landis told The Sun: 'Given the number of people at stage door and the amount of time it takes for Sheridan to see everyone, we - the producers - advised Sheridan not to sign every night, particularly during the heatwave.

'In our experience it is unrealistic to expect a leading actor to sign after every performance.'

Sheridan has been in the role since December when the production originally opened in the smaller Menier Chocolate Factory in Borough, before moving to the West End in April.

In March, Sheridan pulled out of one of the shows after finding out her beloved father Colin had been diagnosed with cancer.

While Sheridan has been taking on the role Tuesday through to Saturday, her understudy Natasha J Barnes takes on the role on Mondays.
