She recently became a grandmother for the first time.

And on Friday it was clear that Kirstie Alley felt buoyed by the experience, as she laughed and smiled her way through her talk at the 15th annual Star Trek convention at the Rio Hotel & Casino in Last Vegas.

Looking relaxed and radiant, the 65-year-old actress wore a little black dress that hugged her body beautifully.

Its deeply plunging neckline showed off her stunning décolletage, adding just the right amount of sex appeal to the sophisticated look.

Alley, who made her movie debut in the 1982 film Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, wore her hair in a simple part.

Her freshly-blown tresses framed her face perfectly as they fell straight to her shoulders, where they rested in gentle curls.

In June, an ecstatic Kirstie announced on Twitter that she had become a grandmother for the first time by uploading a photo of her son William True Parker, 23, cuddling his newborn baby.

She captioned the photo: 'When your son has a son...bliss...yes this is my secret happy news as promised ...Welcome Waylon Tripp Parker.'

The Cheers actress has clearly spent a lot of time with her son and his family since then, as she has frequently tweeted images of William cuddling Waylon.

When she isn't helping nurture the newborn, Kirstie is on the market for love.

In an interview with Wonderwall.com, the Jenny Craig spokesperson revealed that she would like to meet someone younger.

'I feel that men over 50 are just sort of lackluster,' she said.

'Everyone just goes, "Well, you know, I slowed down a little bit. I retired. I just want to travel a lot.'' I'm like, "Oh my God, I'm gonna kill myself." So that isn't for me.'

'If you talk to a guy who's 25 or 26 - let's go 28 because sometimes 25 or 26 year olds don't know what they're doing either - but at 28, they're like, "I'm doing this!" And they have these plans, they have energy behind it and they have life behind it. They're excited about life.'

Alley has been married two times. She divorced her first husband, Bob Alley, in 1977, and her second, Parker Stevenson, in 1997.
