'He asked her to be his one-and-only': Glee Down syndrome star Lauren Potter gets engaged after romantic picnic

It is a development sure to fill the hearts of all her fans with Glee.

For show star Lauren Potter has got engaged after a romantic picnic in Orange County on Sunday.

The 26-year-old actress, who has Down syndrome, accepted her beau Timothy Spear's proposal after he pulled out a promise ring and popped the question in the posh Laguna Beach area.

Lauren's mother Robin Sinkhorn told People her now-fiance, who is the same age and also suffers from the genetic condition, got down on bended knee after planning an elaborate date near the sea.

She said: 'He picked out the ring, made payments on it, and then planned the picnic and the moment to get down on one knee to ask her to promise to be his one-and-only and marry him when they are ready.

'Then they watched the sunset together.'

Fans of Glee know the performer as Becky Jackson, a member of Sue Sylvester's cheerleading squad.

The couple's families have known each other since they took part in infant stimulation classes at the Children's Center in Riverside. 

Robin said: 'We've kept in touch over the years, but it wasn't until the kids were reunited while they were both living in Laguna Beach.

'When Lauren ended a relationship, Timothy immediately asked her out and they have been together since.'

Lauren's six year run on Glee ended in 2015, however she has also served on President Obama's Committee for People with Intellectual Disabilities, and also travels around the country to give speeches on inclusion.
