The co-owner of Hostess Brands' purchase of Hugh Hefner's Playboy Mansion is moving forward as planned amid reports the deal had fallen through.

Daren Metropoulos, 32, is still set to purchase the five-acre iconic property, Daily Mail Online has learned.

A spokeswoman for Metropoulos' business, Metropoulos & Co, told Daily Mail Online gossip reports suggesting the deal has fallen apart are 'simply untrue.'

'Concluding this complicated transaction is clearly in the interest of the sellers as well as Mr. Metropoulos, who has worked to respect Mr. Hefner’s wishes in this unusual situation, as both a neighbor and friend, and continues to look forward to serving as the next steward of this iconic property,' the spokeswoman said.

The spokeswoman noted both parties are bound by confidentiality regarding the terms of the deal.

Earlier on Friday, reports suggested the mansion was back on the market after the impending sale to Metropoulos had fallen apart on Thursday night.

Metropolous had reportedly demanded access that would disrupt Hefner's life, according to TMZ.

The terms of the deal would allow Playboy Magazine's 90-year-old founder to remain in the mansion for the rest of his life before Metropoulos, who lives next door, could start restoring the five-acre property and add onto it, the gossip site reported.

However, TMZ reported Metropoulos wanted a significant amount of access during Hefner's remaining years and Hefner felt he was being unreasonable.

The purchase price is around $110 million, according to TMZ.

Back in June, representatives for Playboy Enterprises and Metropoulos confirmed that Metropoulos' bid to buy Hefner's man cave was in escrow.

Both sides, however, declined to reveal the sale price until escrow closes.

The home in LA's fashionable Holmby Hills was originally listed at $200 million, but local real estate agents said at the time that appeared ridiculously overpriced.

A nearby property sold last year for $59 million.

Metropoulos bought his current home next door to the mansion from Hefner in 2009 for $18 million.

The mansion, the scene of countless celebrity-filled parties and innumerable tales of sexual shenanigans, was built in 1927 and purchased by Playboy Enterprises in 1971 for $1.05 million.

It sits on five acres and has 29 rooms, including a game house, home theater, wine cellar, gym, several tennis courts, swimming pool and four-bedroom guest house.

It also comes with the notorious cave-like grotto where Playboy bunnies have long frolicked with guests.

Metropoulos' home was built in 1929 and sits on about two acres.

His business said in a statement in June that if the purchase closes and at some point Hefner's tenancy ends, he intends to reconnect the two estates.

'If the purchase closes and at some point after Mr. Hefner's tenancy ends, Mr. Metropoulos intends to reconnect the two estates, ultimately returning the combined 7.3-acre compound to the original vision executed by noted architect Arthur R. Kelly and its first owner, Arthur Letts, Jr., the department store heir whose father conceived and developed Holmby Hills when it was the Wolfskill Ranch,' the statement said.

'In the meantime,' the statement continued, 'he is pleased to continue to have Mr. Hefner as his neighbor and feels fortunate and privileged for the opportunity to serve as a steward of this historic property.'

Metropoulos is the former co-owner and co-CEO of Pabst Brewing Company and co-owner of Hostess Brands, maker of Twinkies and other popular snacks.

He is also the son of billionaire businessman C. Dean Metropoulos, an investor and former head of the Pabst Brewing Company who is worth an estimated $2.4billion.

The Playboy Mansion, which Hefner purchased from chessmaster and engineer Louis D. Statham, comes with a whole lot of history.

It is rumored that John Lennon once put out a cigarette on one of Hefner's original Matisse paintings, where it still stands today, according to Thrillist.

There is also believed to be an off-limits bedroom dubbed the 'Elvis' room, where the legendary singer once reportedly slept with eight Playmates at one time.

In addition to it's own parties, the Playboy Mansion is frequently rented out for movie screenings, corporate parties and charity events.

The house has also been featured in a number of music videos, television shows and movies, including Anna Faris' The House Bunny.

But recently the headlines dedicated to the Playboy Mansion are a far cry from its most glamorous days as the place to play in the last decades of the twentieth century.

Playmate Carla Howe, 25, said the estate feels like 'it's stuck in the eighties'.

The British model said Hefner refuses to change anything about the mansion, leaving it looking worn-out and 'cold and unused', she told The Sun.

She said that the iconic Beverly Hills home is no longer a 'place of excess with orgies and topless girls', and instead, 'Hef is so frail he goes everywhere with a group of nurses'.
