She will still Rise! Katy Perry struggles with a huge pink parachute in her highly anticipated new music video

She's been teasing fans with short snippets of the music video for her new single Rise over the last few weeks.

And on Thursday, Katy Perry finally delivered the goods.

The 31-year-old songstress is very much the star in the somewhat abstract video, which sees her hauling around a large, pink parachute.

In the first segment, Katy can be seen struggling against a billowing parachute in what appears to be an abandoned airplane hanger.

After making some forward progress, she looks to be catching her breath before being tugged backward by a gust of wind.

She then punches the material, which quickly envelopes her in a flowing pink enclosure.

Next, she appears running along orange, sandy cliffs, this time dragging the deflated pink appendage behind her.

There are then shots of the pink parachute surrounding Katy, after what looked to have been a difficult water landing.

The music reaches a crescendo as Katy is back on solid ground, apparently running so fast that her parachute inflates, carrying her off into the heavens.

Second thoughts? Just as she's getting up to speed, she slows down again

Frustrated: She screamed as she dangled from the parachute while her song played to the inspirational tune of: 'Just fight it, just fight it/Don't be surprised, I will still rise'

By the very end, Katy has apparently freed herself from the parachute, which is left to lazily blow in the breeze without it's pop star pilot.

Amid her struggle, the song kicks in, with the star powerfully singing: 'Just fight it, just fight it/Don't be surprised, I will still rise.'

The single has continued to grow in popularity since its release on July 14, currently holding down the number 11 spot on Billboard's The Hot 100

The newly-released single - shared ahead of Katy's upcoming fourth album - is set to be used as NBC's official song for the 2016 Rio Olympics.

When she released the song, Katy had shared a statement, saying: 'I know that together we can rise above the fear – in our country, and around the world. I can’t think of a better example than the Olympic athletes, as they gather in Rio with their strength and fearlessness, to remind us how we ALL can come together, with the resolve to be the best we can be.'

'I hope this song can inspire us to heal, unite, and rise together. I am honored that NBC Olympics has chosen to use it as an anthem before and during the Rio Games,' Katy added.

The music video for Rise - directed by Paul Gore - debuts August 4.
