And Naomi Watts, 47, was characteristically stylish as she strolled down a sunny New York boulevard on Thursday.

The British-born Australian actress was clad in a pair of breezy black culottes with a white shirt tucked in, while completing the ensemble with a printed black blazer.

She accessorised her look with a bold sun hat, round-frame sunglasses and a pair of brogue-inspired shoes. 

The mother-of-two, who was spotted holding a brown paper bag and a mobile phone, showcased her glowing complexion by shunning makeup for the casual occasion.

The sighting comes as Naomi gears up for the release of her new horror flick Shut In, in which she stars opposite Oliver Platt, David Cubitt and Jacob Tremblay.

In the film, which is slated for release in November, Naomi takes on the character of a widowed child psychologist living in an isolated rural home in New England. 

When she is caught in a deadly winter storm, Naomi's character becomes faced with the opportunity to save a young boy, played by Jacob Tremblay, who is on the brink of death. 

She and the boy soon discover that they are being hunted by an evil force that has locked them inside her home.

Meanwhile, Naomi has just finished filming The Glass Castle alongside Brie Larson. 

The film, which is based on Jeannette Walls' 2005 memoir of the same name,  tells the story of a successful woman who was raised in poverty by dysfunctional parents. 

Upon wrapping up filming, Naomi took to Instagram to celebrate the milestone by uploading a photo of herself wearing a towel over her head, captioned with: 'Farewell #glasscastlemovie is wrapped in Montreal. Thanks for bonnet and the lovely #lei I feel so emotional.'
