From the hands-on-hips default to the over-the-shoulder smoulder pose favoured by the likes of Gigi Hadid, in 2016, we're all highly aware of the lengths to which celebrities go to get a great photograph.
But here's one you might not have heard yet.
Hollywood actress Cate Blanchett says she has a top secret tip for making her hands look younger before she walks the red carpet.
Dancing queen: Judi Dench taught Cate Blanchett (pictured) to wave her hands in the air before hitting the red carpet so the blood drains down and makes your hands look less veiny
'Dame Judi Dench taught me a trick she uses before a photo shoot which is to put your arms up in the air so the blood drains down and makes your hands look less veiny,' the 47-year-old star said.
'She says it’s your hands that give away your age.'
Ms Blanchett is just one of many famous actresses who tries to get her hands looking as good as possible before attending an event.
In the past, both she and Julianne Moore have shied away from the popular 'mani cams' at awards shows, which often zoom in on stars' nail designs.
The 55-year-old Moore famously said: 'I'm 54 years old... it's humiliating.'

Tips and tricks: Alexa Chung (left) will often cross her legs, which makes her limbs look longer, while Victoria Beckham (right) is known for her slimming trademark pose
Angles: Kendall Jenner (left) will often place her hands on her hips, while Gigi Hadid (right) is also recognised for her over-the-shoulder smoulder look
For those thinking they'd like to take better care of their skin on their hands, there are several ways you can anti age them without forking out thousands of dollars.
Firstly, wear gloves when you wash the dishes so the hot water and abrasive washing-up liquid don't strip away the natural oils in your skin.
Second, moisturise like your life depends on it. Creams with shea butter, vitamin E, olive oil and macadamia nut oil are all good options, especially when applied to slightly damp skin.
Look after: There are many tips for getting great hands, including moisturising, wearing sun cream, opting for gloves when you do the washing up and getting a certain colour of polish
Many nail artists will say that while darker shades, glitter and blacks are popular manicure options at the moment, having the right colour will draw attention away from spidery veins and age spots.
Try orange-based reds, which surprisingly, will make your skin look younger.
And lastly, it's an age-old solution, but exfoliating and wearing sun cream every day is a sure-fire way to anti-age the backs of your hands and palms.
That, and putting your arms up in the air like Cate Blanchett, of course.
