The band, who go by the name of The Brooks, auditioned for the show back in 2014 and failed to make it through the early stages.

However this year teen duo have reportedly made it through to the Judges Houses, after recently taking on the So Macho singer as a mentor, according to the Mirror Online.

The news has since caused eyebrows to raise, questioning whether Sinitta may have 'used' Simon, 56, to her and the band's advantage.

Insiders told The Mirror that Sinitta may have enlisted the help of friend Simon, as head of Syco and the ITV show, to help them proceed in the competition.

A source revealed to The Mirror: 'Sinitta recently became involved behind the scenes of a band who have by 'pure coincidence' just got through to judges houses stage of the X Factor this year.

'The Brooks recently became involved with Sinitta who has been advising them that they will get through the competition with her behind them.'

The source continued: 'It is well known that Sinitta is the best friend of Simon Cowell so this will not go down well with other acts waiting to go to judges houses in the coming weeks.'

MailOnline has contacted a spokesperson for the X Factor for comment.

The band, formed of brothers Kyle and Josh Brooks, released their first pop EP on iTunes last month entitled Seasons Change.

Sinitta, who was Simon's first signed act at Fanfare Records, dated the music mogul during her rise to fame in the '80s.

Calling time on their romantic relationship soon after, the pair have remained close friends ever since.

The singer has appeared on The X Factor as Simon's helping hand at the Judges' Houses round numerous times, and has even taken multiple holidays with Simon and his growing family over the years.

Simon, who has remained unmarried for the entirety of his career, welcomed son Eric with his socialite girlfriend Lauren Silverman in February 2014, naming him after his late father.
