She became a star playing the outlandishly awkward Angela Martin on the hit NBC version of The Office.

And things are also looking rosy in Angela Kinsey's personal life as she announced on Thursday that she is engaged to her long-time boyfriend.

The 45-year-old actress, who shares eight-year-old daughter Isabel with ex-Warren Lieberstein, took to Instagram to share the tale of the storybook proposal which happened earlier this week.

Family first: Angela Kinsey announced that her long-time boyfriend had proposed to her in an elaborate but heartfelt way earlier in the week

'We were going out to dinner' she started, 'and my daughter said that first she wanted to show me the fort in the backyard that she and my boyfriend’s sons had been working on.'

'She led me outside and there was a blanket by the pool and she said I had to sit on it. His sons brought me flowers and then he came around the corner with a ring.'

Angela then provided a bit of background, and revealed how her boyfriend was apparently the old-fashioned type.

'He had called my mom and asked for her blessing...that would have made my Dad so happy. He proposed and I said yes.'

Though many men opt for diamond engagement rings, it seems Angela's beau wanted something with deeper meaning for his beloved.

'The ring is an emerald...all three of our kids' birthstone. The kids made me cards and pictures and I cried. I cried that happy ugly cry. #gonnagethitched'

In the accompanying split photo, Angela can be seen sitting cross-legged in front of a pool cradling a bundle of white flowers.

She wears and plunging white dress with blue trim and a giant smile, as well as her new ring, which is an emerald set in a simple gold band.

While she's known for her TV work, Angela will next appear in the Heather Graham-directed comedy Half Magic.
