Former NFL and Wisconsin running back Montee Ball has been sentenced to 60 days in jail after pleading guilty to two disorderly conduct charges and one battery charge for his role in two domestic abuse incidents, it's been revealed.

In an agreement with prosecutors, the 25-year-old Ball entered the plea to three of six charges against him.

Ball was charged with battery and disorderly conduct in February after his girlfriend told police he had thrown her across a Madison hotel room.

Ball was sentenced to 60 days in jail after pleading guilty to disorderly conduct and battery for his role in two domestic abuse incidents. He is seen playing for the Denver Broncos in September 2014

She claimed she'd been thrown into a wooden table and cut her leg on it, KDVR reported. Ball had claimed he shoved the woman and did not throw her, it said.

About a month later, a previous girlfriend told police she had been assaulted by Ball in 2014. He was accused of hurling a phone at the woman and grabbing her by the neck, WISC-TV reported.

He was charged with strangulation, substantial battery and disorderly conduct.

On Friday, Dane County Circuit judge William E. Hanrahan also ordered Ball to serve 18 months of probation.

Hanrahan, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, said in sentencing: 'I know that you've received trophies and scholarships for pounding people on the gridiron.

'But you have crossed the line. You've earned nothing but condemnation and scorn here for your actions.

'There is a difference between hitting big guys in helmets and protective gear and throwing around frail, young women that are vulnerable and depend on you.'

Ball, the newspaper reported, told the judge: 'My counseling has been helping me out to correct my imperfections and I understand I made a few mistakes in my life and I’m willing to do whatever I need to do to help myself.'

The former NFL player received credit of four days time served and is going to have work-release privileges, WISC-TV said.

Ball holds touchdown records at Wisconsin. He was drafted by Denver in 2013 and cut after two seasons.
