'Maybe I’ll get goosebumps': Adam Lambert says he's 'looking for the next generation of super stars' as he joins X-Factor judging panel in new promo

He knows firsthand what it’s like to compete on a televised singing competition.

And American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert says he is on the lookout for ‘the next generation of super stars’ when he joins X-Factor Australia as a judge.

In a sneak peek for the new series, the 34-year-old Ghost Town singer revealed he never imagined his life would turn out how it is.

‘I remember as a kid and hearing Queen for the first time. But I never would have imagined that I would have the honour of being the lead singer,’ he said in a scene of a little boy watching the famed band performing on TV.

The teaser then moves onto a montage of competitors who will feature on this year’s singing competition.

Adam then tells viewers what he hopes to see as a first time judge.

He just knows: The 34-year-old said that he can't ignore a gut feeling or goosebumps when someone he likes starts to perform

‘Even if an audition isn’t perfect sometimes you can see a glimmer of something genius. There’s that moment that they have, where you’re like “ohh”. Or I’ll get a feeling. Maybe I’ll get goosebumps. That’s an instinctual trigger that I can’t ignore,’ he adds. 

The teaser then moves onto Adam providing feedback to one up-and-coming singer, saying: ‘You represent everything that this next generation is.’  

A montage of different performers crying, singing and acting surprised then reappears, before ending with Adam providing some more advice to a contender on the show.

‘People saying that I’m not going to conform, I’m not going to be one thing, I’m just going to be me,’ he concludes in the one-minute long promotion.

Adam will join chart-topping rapper Iggy Azalea and returning judge Guy Sebastian on the judging panel during the new season.

The If I had You singer began his singing career as a contestant on American Idol, on which he finished as runner-up in 2009, and his experience on a pop star search will prove valuable on the Channel Seven series.

In a statement, Adam said he was looking forward to joining the judging panel.

'It’s really an honour to be in this role I just love what this show is about, it’s about prepping an artist for the industry,’ he said.
