But Ellie Goulding gave the tradition a little modernisation on Saturday as she brought her hunky dancer Jackson Williams along to her friend's party in London.

After sparking romance rumours by hitting the high seas together on a cosy sailing trip around St Tropez last month, the pair were out and about again as they headed out to party with the likes of The Saturday's Frankie Bridge and Molly King.

She teamed the shorts with a billowing cream blouse and brown ankle boots, whilst she wore her golden locks in loose waves and accentuated her stunning features with minimal make-up.

Meanwhile Jackson - who is currently a dancer on Ellie's Delirium world tour - looked dapper in a crisp black shirt and skinny jeans.

Ellie split from her boyfriend of two years, Dougie Poynter, back in March, blaming their hectic schedules for the break-up.

Speaking about her heartbreak, she told The Sun: 'People think I'm invincible but these past few weeks have been tough.

'Everyone knows that breaking up with someone is a really terrible thing. It's hard, complicated and it's never going to be easy.'
