WikiProject Wikipedia Awards is a project dedicated to helping people develop the creation and use of Barnstars and other awards within the Wikipedia community. These awards are part of the Kindness Campaign and are used to help promote Civility and WikiLove.
are used on Wikipedia to reward users who make outstanding contributions in a particular area. To give someone an award, all you have to do, is copy the code from the table onto the talk page of the person you want to give the award to, and tell them why you have given it to them. There are many types of barnstar to choose from; if you are sure your choice is appropriate - don't be shy!
was started by BlueCaper. The current version includes the puzzle-globe logo of Wikipedia and a mop, as administrative tools are often likened to a janitor's mop. It is usually given by non-administrators to administrators whose help and contributions have been greatly appreciated.
In addition to barnstars, there are several other awards as well. While barnstars are generally reserved for a long-standing pattern of excellence, the following awards are more often given to honor specific actions or events.
Is usually awarded annually to a Wikimedia developer or technical person for exceptional service to the community. Often, but not always, awarded for a specific achievement, it was most recently awarded to Justin Knapp for being the first person to make 1,000,000 edits.
In the Personal User Awards there is a wide range of awards to choose from, from the "Golden Wiki" award, for users who have made outstanding contributions, to the "Son of Jimbo" award, for users with the last name "Wales". So the next time you think a user has made a significant contribution, or basically anything else, why don't you give them a reward to show your gratitude?
If you have a design for a new award, you can propose the award on the project talk page
It is recommended that new Barnstars be shared at the talk page; many users have posted Barnstars at WP:BS without realizing that their Barnstar idea had already been in place.
If you have a new idea for an award, but don't possess any graphic programs with which to make said award, then you can either:
Pick a user from the above list and ask them individually
Participants may use this code: {{User WPAwards}} to get this userbox:
This user is a participant in WikiProject Wikipedia Awards.
Anyone who is interested in maintaining the Awards page and proposals, and helping out with the project in general, is welcome to add their name at the bottom of the list (Do NOT add your name if you have the intention of only contributing once or twice!) using {{user2|User name here}} ''Optional Comment''
Barkjon(talk·contribs·count) - not good at graphics but willing to give out barnstars. If you have anyone for me to put a barnstar on their page, just tell me who and give me a copy of the barnstar.
Skibden(talk·contribs·count) - In general has a lot of knowledge of "real" medals, and have my own database-website over Danish medals. Ask for my service, and I shall provide.
Captain Miles(talk·contribs·count) - At the moment I'm learning much new stuff about wikipedia and this will be my first project I'm participating. Maybe I'll focus on Ribbons.
