The 2016 I’ds of March!

The concept is this – for the Ides of March, I tell you things that I’d have done in certain comics!!

But don’t worry, I’m not talking about simple 20/20 hindsight things like pick a famous bad storyline and just say, “I wouldn’t have done that” or “You know that cool character? I wouldn’t have killed him/her.”

No, I mean more like tweaks and nudges, stuff like that. Not major changes.

You can check out past years’ I’ds to see what I’m talking about, or just read on!

Hey, Now Cronin Can Put Songbird In The Avengers!

By buying a copy of Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2, which she will be appearing in. Gaming blog Kotaku points out this point from the game’s blog, where the developers talk about translating her from the page to the game.

They talk about how they used Marko Djurdjevic’s Thunderbolts covers as inspiration for her look and other comic book reference material they used in the process of creating her character model and how her powers would look in motion. Sure, I’m pandering to the powerful video game player/Songbird fan consortium, but this is still pretty interesting if you’ve played these games as much as I have and want to know how the process of making comic characters playable in a video game, especially one as obscure as Songbird is; she’s not even in the Avengers!

Joe’d…

I’d not date other comic fans.

Do we really need an extra thousand things to argue about? I’ll stick with where to eat and whose parents are crazier. I don’t need to yell about the relative merits of Joe Matt vs. Johnny Ryan.

I’d have saved my anti-Crisis-on-Infinite-Earths Piece

Seriously, I can’t find that anywhere. It makes me sad. It was fucking brilliant.

I’d never have quit CSBG in the first place.

Can you imagine me with some sort of moderation ability? I would burn a swath through the comment fields like a case of mono through the popular kids in junior high. Lo, I would be feared indeed.

I’d Have a Seven Soldier Join the Justice League

On top of Zatanna, I’d like to add one more of the Seven Soldiers join the Justice League. Probably Shining Knight or Shiloh Norman, but Frankenstein might be interesting, too.

Let’s not let these good characters go to waste!

So I’d add a Seven Soldier to the Justice League.

I’d Bring Alex Wilder Back

I think the guy is just too fascinating of a character to have him permanently be stuck in that white void dimension he currently is in.

Either as a redeemed villain or as a super-villain in training, he’s such a great character that I’d bring him back.

I’d Find Some Regular Role for Amanda Waller

Is there seriously not a single book where Amanda Waller couldn’t pop up in on a regular basis?

Justice League liaison?

I dunno, there just has to be some role out there for one of the best new characters of the 1980s.

I’d find some regular role in the DC Universe for Amanda Waller.

I’d Bring the Original Human Torch Back

Isn’t it weird that he’s not around? I’m figuring Brubaker actually will eventually get around to bringing him back (I hope), but really, the guy’s an android! If there ever was a guy who shouldn’t be able to just die, this would be the guy!

Just have someone find the remnants of his body after he exploded in New Invaders and fix him!

So I’d bring the original Human Torch back – it’s Marvel’s 70th Anniversary this year, let’s have him back for it!
