The Real Housewives Of New York star sought the order against estranged husband Michael on Wednesday, hours after she called police to her apartment following a heated argument with the 44-year-old.

The reality star bore a grim expression as she picked up a coffee for herself and a milk for her youngest, knowing she has a fight on her hands to hang on to her.

Earlier in the day it emerged Michael is planning on filing for full custody of both the former couple's kids.

TMZ reported Michael is seeking an order limiting the 35-year-old to supervised visitation with five-year-old Jagger and three-year-old Rio.

His attorney is preparing documents asking a judge for primary custody because his estranged wife is 'just too erratic' to care for them.

The move will raise eyebrows among Real Housewives Of New York fans, who have seen Jules complain several times about how little he cared for the youngsters while he was caught up in what she later confirmed to be an affair.

After Wednesday's fight, the NYPD told E! News: 'When officers showed up they spoke to both parties and advised for each, if they felt threatened by the other, to file a restraining order.'

There was no evidence of injury, and no arrests were made.

After Wednesday's family court ruling, a source told E! Jules 'is a great mom who is just focused on her kids right now', and is trying take the high road'.

Court records show that a divorce hearing has been set for September 8, when a judge will hear both sides petition for 'pendente lite support' - temporary support during the divorce, with Jules requesting monthly support from Michael.

Last week Jules appeared on Bravo's Watch What Happens Live, looking visibly uncomfortable as she answered questions on the divorce.
