Kendall Jenner cemented her status as the hottest model of the moment by landing the esteemed September cover of US Vogue this week.

The 20-year-old reality-turned-catwalk star and the Kardashians were unable to contain their excitement, rushing to share the news on social media.

But it seems that not everyone is as delighted with Kendall's new magazine cover.

Fans of the fashion bible have taken to social media in their droves to condemn the magazine for selecting the reality TV star as their cover girl.

'RIP Vogue USA,' said one user, which led to countless others following suit with tweets echoing the same sentiment.

One user hailed the magazine a 'sellout', writing: 'Just sad that Wintour, Vogue and a lot of top fashion brands have become such sellouts.'

Another user wrote: 'Kendall being on the September Vogue issue is a bit of a joke... like??? I love the Kardashians/Jenners but...'

Another user declared that Vogue was 'over' following the latest issue.

As well as posing for the cover, Kendall stars in a video alongside her sisters, which sees her waking up on the morning the cover is announced and her sisters practically ignoring the matter.

Kim is busy taking selfies, Kourtney is talking about her crushes and Kris is working in her office. But, of course, it is all just a parody and the sisters have actually planned a surprise celebration for her.

However, fans were less than impressed with the video, with one user hailing it 'the most Kardashian thing I have ever seen.'

Despite the negative comments, plenty of Kendall's fans were just as excited as she was, with many taking to social media to congratulate her and tell her she looked amazing on the glossy cover.

Wearing a matador-inspired couture ensemble from Gucci which featured just a jacket and pants, her hair falling over one side of her face and her mouth slightly open, Kendall pulled a classic Vogue pose on the cover.

Shot by the magazine's dream team, Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, the cover is all about Kendall.

Vogue declares that it is 'Generation K' and bills the issue as 'Kendall Jenner: The face that launched a billion likes.'

She's got them licked! Kendall used the dog filter and yelled: 'Go check my Instagram.... because I'm on the cover of September Vogue and I cant wait I'm so excited'

While her big sister Kim Kardashian and Kanye West were the first in the family to be on the cover of US Vogue back in 2014, the couple were on the April issue not the coveted September issue.

September has long been held as the premiere release of any magazine as it the biggest and celebrates the trends for the following year.

Clearly delighted, Kendall said on Instagram: 'In a room with a bunch of people I love, looking at this cover made me cry. I F**KING DID IT. SEPTEMBER VOGUE. 'This is the coolest thing ever! can't thank you enough Anna, for giving me the honor.'

Speaking on her app, Kendall said the cover was a dream come true: 'I'm so honored and excited about this huge career milestone.

'Thank you to everyone who was a part of this - including my family and friends for always supporting me, and, of course, my fans who have been with me through everything. I couldn't have done it without your support. I love you all! '

The star also revealed she went through a sudden style change: 'One day, we shot at the craziest house in Beverly Hills with a lake in the backyard. They asked me to cut my hair and, of course, I agreed!'
