At 38 years old, John Mayer looks as baby-faced as ever. According to a tongue-in-cheek beauty tutorial the Gravity crooner posted on Snapchat recently, his $1,457 nightly skincare routine might have something to do with it.

'A lot of people ask me, "John, what are your skincare secrets"?' he begins. After cleansing with Proactiv, he launches into his regimen, which includes an arsenal of pricey products from Natura Bisse ('I have a feeling this is used mainly by people in their 60s and 70s, but I love it.') and questionable application techniques.

Did he learn these tricks from his many famous ex-girlfriends? Is he totally trolling the internet? We can't be sure, but we do know that we're already waiting for Skincare Secrets With John, Part Two.

Read on for John Mayer's best, yet mostly ill-advised, skincare 'hacks'.

Apply night moisturizer directly onto the face.

The singer calls this the D.A.T. (Direct Application Technique).

'Applying skin lotion to your hands and then rubbing it into your face gets a lot of lotion stuck in the crease of your fingers, and that's expensive.'

Considering his lotion of choice (Natura Bisse Diamond Life Infusion) costs nearly $600, we can understand why he doesn't want to waste a single drop.

Use eye cream on your entire face.

'Eye concentrate is really just better facial moisturizer but more expensive and in smaller bottles. Use it,' John advises, though unlike his first tip, this method doesn't seem to be very cost effective.

We'd suggest sticking to applying eye cream the way it's intended.

Pay special attention to your frown lines.

Being that he's such an expressive performer, we're not surprised that the Grammy winner is concerned about frown line wrinkles.

For the third step in his routine, he applies Natura Bisse Vitamin C + C Complex around his mouth. 'This is called the off-set smiley,' he says.

Apply a rich moisturizer onto your 'Crucial Necessity Zones'.

Waiting on his dryness to change: The singer likes to apply a second dose of moisturizer, but apparently only to certain areas of his face, a.k.a. 'Crucial Necessity Zones'

The CNZs, as John refers to them, are the areas on your face that need the most moisture.

After applying Natura Bisse Diamond Extreme, which he calls 'some crazy s***',  as if it were pimple cream, he takes a cotton swab and works each dot of cream into the skin.

Interesting approach, but we'll just stick to slathering the moisturizer over our entire face, John.

Finish with a facial mist.

'This is going to set in all of the moisturizers you're going to put on for the night,' the guitarist says before advising viewers to spray mist (he's a fan of Natura Bisse Diamond Mist) in front of your face and then aggressively headbutt it.

The visual is one we could watch all day.

His final and most useful tip? 'Taking good care of your skin is key.'
