She's always met with hordes of fans upon exiting her West End performance of Funny Girl.

And Sheridan Smith couldn't contain her excitement as she puckered up to show director Michael Mayer after yet another successful portrayal of Fanny Brice at London's Savoy Theatre on Thursday.

The 35-year-old actress looked overjoyed as she locked lips with Mayer, who had flown in to show his support.

Despite being dressed down, the thespian looked lovely with her blonde locks in a messy bun, while a pair of hoop earrings framed her face.

Grabbing on Sheridan's hands, Mayer whispered congratulatory support to her before she moved on to sign fan autographs.

Despite her enthusiasm at meetings fans post-performance, producers last month expressed their fears that Sheridan's prolonged meet and greets would leave her tired - especially factoring in soaring summer temperatures.

In a statement, producers Sonia Friedman, David Babani and Scott Landis told The Sun newspaper: 'Given the number of people at stage door and the amount of time it takes for Sheridan to see everyone, we - the producers - advised Sheridan not to sign every night, particularly during the heatwave.

'In our experience it is unrealistic to expect a leading actor to sign after every performance.'

Last month, Sheridan received a warm reception when she returned to the West End following her break for stress and exhaustion.

Sheridan has been in the role since December when the production originally opened in the smaller Menier Chocolate Factory in Borough, before moving to the West End in April.

In March, Sheridan pulled out of one of the shows after learning her beloved father Colin had been diagnosed with cancer.

While Sheridan has been taking on the role Tuesday through to Saturday, her understudy Natasha J Barnes plays the part on Mondays.
