'She thought I was psycho!' Amy Schumer reveals how she lured Goldie Hawn, 70, out of retirement to star in new film
She's a woman who knows what she wants.
And Amy Schumer definitely wanted to work with Goldie Hawn - and told her so when they met on a plane a couple of years ago.
'I told her there's a movie I really want to make with her. And she was very nice. "OK, honey." She probably thought I was a psycho. "OK, crazy person," ' Amy dished in a Q&A with The Los Angeles Times on Wednesday.
Beachy keen: Amy Schumer has managed to lure Goldie Hawn, 70, out of retirement to co-star as her mother in her as-yet-untitled comedy filming in Hawaii
But she got her wish. The 70-year-old funny girl is in Hawaii, wrapping up her part as Amy's mother in the as-yet-untitled adventure-comedy - Goldie's first film since 2002's The Banger Sisters.
It seems persistence was the key to luring the star, who looks years younger than her age, out of retirement.
In full colour: Goldie looked years younger than her age as she posed in Honolulu Oahu last month at the start of filming for her part in the as-yet-untitled film
'I'd meet her at different things, saying, "We're making this movie together," ' the 35-year-old said.
'And I think, eventually, some people got in her ear and told her I wasn't crazy, that I make things.'
Amy wrote the script, along with her sister Kim Caramele and Katie Dippold.
Chilling out: Both actresses posted this snap which Amy captioned 'last week of shooting with my soulmate @officialgoldiehawn.' Goldie added, 'amyschumer the new love in my life'
'My character is supposed to go on this trip South America with a boyfriend. But he breaks up with her,' Amy said, revealing plot details for the first time.
'And it's a nonrefundable ticket and she doesn't want to drink alone.'
So she invites her mother along as her drinking partner.
'It's a Goldie Hawn movie and she's gorgeous. Goldie…Hawn! I don't remember the first time I didn't love her!'
Girls night out: On Wednesday Amy posted this snap of her, right, and Goldie, left, enjoying pina colada cocktails and dinner with pals, captioned 'Total winners. No question'
And it seems the admiration is mutual. On Wednesday, the pair both posted an Instagram snap of themselves on a boat off the coast, which Goldie captioned: 'amyschumer the new love in my life #loveisheretostay. Last week of shooting with my soulmate.'
Amy echoed the thought, repeating: 'Last week of shooting with my soulmate.'
The comedy, directed by Jonathan Levine and also starring Christopher Meloni, Wanda Sykes and Ike Barinholtz, is due to hit theaters next May 12.
'Sisters from the same misters': The Trainwreck star and her sister Kim Caramele, pictured in this Instagram snap from Tuesday, co-wrote the script with Katie Dippold
Having a laugh: The funny girl also posted this off-kilter snap, saying, 'Whoa, what a ride working with @chris_meloni.' The movie is due out May 12
