So cheeky! Plastic surgeon's graphic before and after pictures of Brazilian butt lifts earn him a cult following on Instagram as people go gaga for his 'procedure porn'

A New York plastic surgeon is gaining a cult following on Instagram with his before and after pictures of Brazilian butt lifts.

Dr Matthew Schulman has accumulated more than 20,000 followers on @nycplasticsurg where he shares graphic photographs of procedures and even shares pictures from the operating table.

'Procedure porn' is a growing trend on social media led by accounts such as @drpimplepopper, run by dermatologist Dr Sandra Lee, and plastic surgeon Michael Salzhauer's @therealdrmiami.

Butt augmentations have seen a dramatic rise in popularity as Americans try to recreate the looks of curvy stars such as Kim Kardashian. 

According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, 14,705 butt augmentations using fat grafts were performed last year - up 28 per cent on 2014.

Schulman, who also broadcasts operations live on Snapchat, said his elective surgery is 'a way of augmenting or increasing the size of the butt or improving the shape using your own fat.'

He uses liposuction and fat grafting to transfer the fat of his patients from areas they do not want it to where they do.

To accompany his pictures he provides in-depth descriptions of how he got the desired results. 

Sometimes he shares 'during' pictures of his patients so that followers can see the workings of his surgery and also the tools he uses. 

Alongside a pictures showing the before and after of one butt lift procedure, he wrote: 'Got back? She does now. Five liters of fat was removed and 2200cc was placed back into her butt and hips. This is how she looks almost two years after her surgery.' 

In another example, he shared before and after pictures of a thin five-foot-six woman who weighed 135lbs who was told by a number of surgeons that she needed to gain 20 pounds to have a Brazilian butt lift.

But Dr Schulman claimed that the other surgeons were wrong - arguing that gained fat would not be 'stable' fat and would vanish soon after the operation.

Instead, he said he used advanced liposuction techniques that meant he was 'able to harvest enough fat to place 750cc of viable and stable fat per side.'

Congratulating himself on the results he said it 'made a really nice improvement', adding that the patient was 'thrilled with her natural looking results'.

He also shares the results of other procedures such as breast augmentations and tummy tucks.
