Hannah Horvath seems to be taking to impending motherhood quite well.

Lena Dunham happily threw herself into character as the obviously expectant aspiring writer on the New York City set of Girls on Saturday.

The 30-year-old actress sported a big prosthetic bump beneath her denim overall shorts that earned a fawning pat from Gaby Hoffman.

It was all for a scene that took place near the steps of a brownstone apartment house where Gaby's character, Caroline Sackler, seemed quite taken with Hannah's growing girth.

Gaby's alter ego Caroline is also a mom to a toddler girl and so was pleased to see Hannah's pregnancy coming along so nicely.

Cameras followed Gaby as she placed a hand beneath Lena's chin and looked into her eyes in a poignant exchange of words.

While not much is yet known about the sixth and final season storyline, it looks like Hannah is going out with a bang - and a baby.

In between takes, Lena - who serves as writer, director and producer in addition to star on the show - relaxed and cradled her faux bump with a big smile.

Lena sat crosslegged at one point with both hands placed on her 'bump,' her hair pulled back in a French braid.

During another break, Lena lay on her back with hands resting on her midsection and her gaze drifting upwards in total relaxation.

Gaby, who was clad in baggy denim trousers and a blue button-down shirt tucked into the waistband, entertained the young girl who plays her daughter between scenes.

Last week, Lena was filmed wearing a different outfit and sharing a kiss with Adam Driver.

There's a smile: The native New Yorker - who previously said that it's time to wrap up Girls while they're on top - beamed a big smile

Driver plays Sackler, who was Hannah's boyfriend up until the end of season five, that is.

Lena previously said she felt Girls has run its course and that six seasons is enough.

'Just on a personal level, I was 23 when I wrote the pilot; I'm gonna be 30 as we shoot the sixth season,' the star said last January during Sundance Film Festival, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

'And it just felt as though, if we were to continue on, it wouldn't be about what it was originally about. It would be the equivalent of moving them to California, only California is them getting married and having kids and stuff like that. It just feels like at this point, it makes sense for us to wrap their stories up.'
