She's a Scream Queen! Emma Roberts lookalike yells 'I have to get back to my sorority' during monster attack in new American Horror Story teaser

It has already been revealed the new American Horror Stories teaser trailers are being used to 'misdirect' from this season's plot.

And the latest promo clip for the FX show took a cheeky nod to camp TV horror hit Scream Queens after it featured a Emma Roberts lookalike being dragged to the depths by a mystery monster.

In the retro horror movie pastiche the blonde woman, who is wearing a red dress, ends up having her dark roots exposed by the rubber-suited swamp thing as she is pulled below the surface.

As the attack takes place she underlines the reference, squealing: 'I have to get back to my sorority.'

The short clip, entitled Blind Date, which features crackling video and 60s-style colour, does end on a high note however.

For it seems she may end up in love with the creature, as they hold hands in the final frame after she has been fully submerged.

That, or the monster is grabbing her hand as she makes her last, violent death throes.

The character bore a striking resemblance to Emma Roberts' breakout Scream Queens character Chanel Oberlin, the Kappa Kappa Tau sorority leader who was framed for several murders at the end of the first season of the Fox comedy horror show.

And her dark roots may have been another reference to the actress herself, as she famously dyed her hair a 'desert rose' colour akin to her Pretty Woman star aunt Julia Roberts' natural tresses.

FX chief John Landgraf said at the Television Critic’s Association press tour many of this year's teasers have been deliberately made to keep an aura of mystery about the forthcoming season of the Ryan Murphy-helmed anthology horror series.

He said: 'Every year, we’ve basically laid out the themes, the new genre that Ryan’s going to be approaching, and we just thought (this year) it’d be really fun to keep it a mystery.

'(Head of marketing) Stephanie (Gibbons) and her team, with Ryan’s help, did was they went out and made many more trailers than you’ve actually seen for hypothetical seasons of American Horror Story.

'Different genres, different places. I think they’re really fun and funny and beautifully, artfully made… and a lot of them are accurate. The others are all misdirects.

'We just thought that would be a nice change after five years of doing things one way.'

Season six of American Horror Story is scheduled to premiere on FX on September 14.
