Usain Bolt wins the 200m final and scores his eighth Olympic gold medal

Usain Bolt claimed his eighth Olympic gold medal and tore up the record books once again. The Jamaican is now one day away from landing the 'triple triple' and he will attempt to complete the incredible feat in the Rio 2016 Stadium on Friday evening. Bolt easily swept his competition and stormed home to clinch the 200m gold in a time of 19.78. But Bolt couldn't help but wipe the immediate disappointment off his face when he realized his time. The race was never really against his competitors as much as it was the clock for Bolt, who had his heart set on beating the Olympic record he set in the Beijing games eight years ago. A showman through and through, Bolt's signature smile soon spread across his face as the crowd road and he knelt on the track, taking deep breaths and punching his heart in victory. One Love by another of Jamaica's famous sons Bob Marley played as Bolt grabbed a Jamaican flag and did his lap of honor, singing along to the lyrics as he jigged and blew kisses to the adoring crowd.

Amber Heard confirmed she is giving away to charity all the $7 million divorce settlement she got from Johnny Depp. The actress, 30, said she is donating the money to two charities: The ACLU, with instructions to use it to help defend battered women, and the Children's Hospital of Los Angeles, where she says she has worked as a volunteer for 10 years. Video shows Ryan Lochte and swimmers after destroying gas station bathroom

Brazillian police have released footage of Ryan Lochte and three US swimmers at the Rio gas station where they claimed to have been robbed in the early hours of Sunday. The men can be seen running to and from the bathroom and at one point sitting off behind the establishment, spending over 10 minutes at the gas station a little after 6am in the morning. Officials in Brazil are now furiously denying Lochte's robbery claims, with one individual saying of the group: 'The only truth they told was they were drunk.' Sources have confirmed to DailyMail.com that Lochte and the group destroyed a gas station toilet and refused to pay for the damage until a security guard demanded they hand over money. An official says the guard was armed with a pistol, but he never took it out or pointed it at the swimmers.

What began as a casual interview on Copacabana beach has spiraled into an international incident involving police in two continents. Rio police say no robbery ever took place.

Friends of Ryan Lochte are mounting a defense of the 'robbed' swimmer, saying that although he has changed his story, it contains a core truth that he handed over money to a man at gunpoint.

Brazilian police say Lochte and other swimmers who claimed they were robbed had in fact destroyed a gas station toilet and refused to pay for the damage until a security guard waved a gun.

Hate mob shouts 'liars' and tries to grab two of Ryan Lochte's sidekicks

Two of the four US swimmer's caught up in the Ryan Lochte robbery row have been cleared to leave Rio and have arrived at the airport to board a flight back to the U.S. Gunnar Bentz, 20, and Jack Conger, 21, were pictured inside the international airport going through security and checking into their flight. The pair of athletes still had on the clothes they were photographed in when leaving Rio's special tourist police station after being questioned about the robbery claims they fabricated. The duo appeared to be in somber mood at the airport, possibly embarrassed by the scandal. Bentz and Conger faced a gauntlet of hate when they were confronted by an angry mob as they left the station. They were cleared by police to go home after admitting that the robbery story - in which Lochte, 32, said they were held at gunpoint - was made up. Lochte returned home to the United States on Tuesday, while teammate Feigen, 26, remains in Brazil and has yet to speak with police. At a press conference on Thursday, officials said that the men were never robbed - and that it was the swimmers who had caused damage on Sunday.

US says $400M to Iran was contingent on release of prisoners

The State Department has dramatically admitted that $400 million handed over to Iran in cash was 'contingent' on the release of four American prisoners. The cash - in dollars, euros and other denominations, was sent on a plane (left) to Tehran on 17 January, as the four Americans, including Saeed Abedini (bottom right) were freed. Now State Department spokesman John Kriby (top right) has said the delivery of the cash hinged on the prisoners being freed - blowing a hole in months of denials that the U.S. had paid a ransom to the Islamic regime as part of a nuclear deal. The Obama administration had consistently claimed there were no ransoms paid but has faced mounting questions over the cash. His admission is the first time the Obama administration has conceded there is an explicit link between the two events, and will hand Donald Trump significant political capital.
