Matt Lauer is not the only talk show host who got to interview Ryan Lochte in the wake of his Rio Olympics scandal, with Stephen Colbert also 'sitting down' with the disgraced swimmer.

The Late Show host posted video of a faux interview with Lochte on Tuesday that included the answers the Olympian gave Lauer but this time with questions being asked by Colbert.

Most of the answers involved Lochte telling Colbert he was 'intoxicated' in the skit.

'Ryan, thank you for sitting down with me. What's it been like for you since this scandal about your alleged robbery in Rio broke?' says Colbert at the start of the interview.

'I mean, since everything that's happened, I've kind of been laying low,' responds Lochte.

Colbert then jokingly fires back: 'You want to lay low, television is the best place to do that'.

Colbert then continues: 'I want to give you a chance to clear up some things. You gave an interview with Billy Bush that claimed that while you were at a gas station in Rio, a gun was put to your forehead and cocked and you were robbed. Now you're saying that didn't happen?'

Lochte responds: 'That didn't happen. And that's why I over-exaggerated that part'.

A confused Colbert says to the swimmer at that point: 'Okay, here's the thing - "that part" is really the whole part. Without a gun cocked to your forehead, it’s really just a story about some guys urinating on a gas station. How could you get that so wrong?'

Lochte then tells Colbert he was 'intoxicated.'

And when asked why he didn't tell Bush the truth later that day he said he was 'still intoxicated'.

And when asked why he then didn't tell Lauer the truth in a [phone call on Wednesday, Lochte says: 'I was very intoxicated.'

Colbert then asks: 'Ryan…Are you intoxicated right now?'

A confused looking Lochte does not answer the question.

Lochte implied he may check in to rehab on Monday, shortly after he was dropped by three of his four major sponsors.

The swimmer was in Los Angeles when TMZ cameras caught him at the airport and asked him if he was considering getting help for his drinking with AA or rehab, to which he replied: 'You know, um, I don't know. I can't answer that question right now.'

He then added: 'Right now I need to just see my family and talk to them.'

Later in the interview Lochte seemed to imply he had already been suspended by the US Olympic Committee over what happened in Rio.

Lochte spoke about the suspension when asked what he would be wearing in the pool moving forward now that he has been dropped by Speedo.

'You know, I heard about that and it stinks. Speedo was great to me, they were like a second family throughout my swimming career and I guess it's a new chapter now,' said Lochte.

'Who knows if I'm going to be swimming. I'm swimming for another four years so however long my suspension is that the USOC says I am going to get back in that water and keep going.'

Lochte was then asked what he would do if he was banned from swimming.

'I would go work with kids, teaching them things I've learned throughout my swimming career because I have so much love and passion for the sport I just want to make it bigger.'

Lochte's recent attempts at damage control appear to be too little too late, with Speedo announcing on Monday they were ending their sponsorship of the swimmer.

A little over two hours later he was also dropped by Ralph Lauren and Gentle Hair Removal.
