'I almost drowned in 6ft waves': Britney Spears recalls terrifying near-death experience in Hawaiian surf

Britney Spears revealed she suffered a near-death experience on holiday in Hawaii.

The 34-year-old star said she was sucked under powerful 'six foot waves' for five minutes.

'I went out and I thought it was like a wave pool, and I was like, "This is so nice and refreshing and just beautiful," she told Radio One DJ Scott Mills in an interview airing on Wednesday at 1pm.

'But the thing I didn’t think about is when you come back, the waves really come in hard.

'I got sucked under for like five minutes. I almost drowned. And I’m like, "Where is my security? They’re just going to let me die here".

'And then I came in again and another wave took me under.'

Luckily, Britney lived to tell the tale and is busy promoting her new ninth studio album Glory and new single Make Me, featuring G-Eazy.

During the chat with Mills, she discusses Justin Bieber, the Super Bowl and the one piece of advice she'd give her younger self - don't get married.

'Never get married, number one. That's probably the best advice I could give myself.'

Britney married Jason Alexander back in 2004 but the marriage lasted for a mere 55 hours before it was annulled.

She then wed Kevin Federline and the couple had two sons Sean Preston, now 10-years-old and Jayden James, nine.

Meanwhile, Britney said she would consider headlining the Super Bowl next year, but wouldn't do it alone.

'I would have to have a little support group, another artist of course,' she said. 'I don’t think you would ever do the Super Bowl alone. That would be kind of scary.'
