'He respected my virginity': Linda Thompson reveals in new memoir that Elvis Presley waited to consummate their relationship

Linda Thompson revealed in her new memoir that Elvis Presley respected her virginity until she was ready to consummate their relationship.

The 66-year-old former beauty queen in her 384-page book A Little Thing Called Life: On Loving Elvis Presley, Bruce Jenner, and Songs in Between opened up on being with The King.

'I want to preserve for you as long as you need. He actually used the word ''preserve'',' she wrote of Presley's stance on her chastity.

Thompson and Presley met in Memphis, Tennessee on July 6, 1972 and quickly became inseparable.

She wrote about losing her virginity in early September after they were living together in Las Vegas.

'We were in our king-sized bed on a pedestal, with a mirrored ceiling above us, reflecting Elvis and me tangled in a loving entrainment of arms, legs, kissed and deeply felt intimacy,' Thompson wrote.

'Let’s just say if you’re not ready then, you’re never going to be ready in your whole entire lifetime. … I knew I was ready to make love with this man I absolutely adored with all of my heart and soul,' she added.

She also revealed that Presley was self-conscious about his 'skinny little chicken neck' and that inspired his trademark high collars.

The King also had a midlife crisis at age 40 and got a facelift.

'There has been speculation through the years that Elvis has his eyes done or some other mystery procedure, but that mini facelift was the extent of his plastic surgery,' Thompson wrote.

Thompson also chronicled witnessing Presley's drug abuse and knew he was taking sleeping pills and another to wake up.

'He was taking Placidyl, which was a powerful sleeping pill and tranquilizer. I was gone just long enough to hurry through my bedtime routine, but by the time I came back into the bedroom, he was facedown in his big bowl of chicken noodle soup,' she wrote.

After pulling the rock legend up by the hair, she started clearing his throat 'literally pulling out chunks of food,' she wrote.

Thompson and Presley split in November 1976 and he died on August 16, 1977 at age 42 with his drug use a contributing factor.

Linda in 1980 began a relationship with Olympic champion Bruce Jenner and they were married in January 1981 in Hawaii.

The former couple had sons Brandon, 35, and Brody, 33, together before splitting in 1986.

Bruce transitioned in 2015 and is now known as Caitlyn Jenner.

Thompson revealed that she began writing the memoir more than a decade ago but held off due to Caitlyn.

'I would not have been able to write an honest portrayal of my marriage to Bruce Jenner and the real reason we divorced, until now. I would have never been the one to ''out Bruce'',' she wrote.
