Building firms set to be kicked out of FTSE 100 after their share prices crashed in wake of Brexit vote, despite signs of strong performance
Housebuilder Berkeley Group and builders merchant Travis Perkins are among those that could fall out of the top flight index, in the first reshuffle since the June referendum, according to retail broker the Share Centre. But relegation from the FTSE 100 does not necessarily present a long-term picture of the health of the building sector. Housebuilders' shares have been
among those to have taken a battering from Brexit, with Berkeley Group, Barratt Homes and Taylor Wimpey all below pre-referendum levels.

Window cleaner who began knocking on doors with his brother reports a 63% sales rise to £12.1million
A window cleaner who began by knocking on doors with his brother has reported a 63 per cent year-on-year rise in his firm's sales to £12.1million after winning contracts with the Co-operative Group and Santander. Thornton Tasker, 49, was the fourth generation of window cleaners in his family - but his vision has proved the clearest. Nationwide Window Cleaning, headquartered in Leeds, has increased its workforce by 120 over the past two years, bringing the total to 285.
Has Brexit vote hit the housing market or not? Mortgage experts say autumn data will show if homeowners are spooked and refusing to move
Research claiming that confidence in the property market has fallen off in the aftermath of the Brexit vote have been slammed by mortgage experts. Technology firm Equifax Touchstone processes about 70 per cent of the mortgages made in the UK has published research suggesting that mortgage sales fell 15.7 per cent, equal to £2.5billion in July from the previous month. Year-on-year, sales were down 16.6 per cent or £2.7bn. But experts said the data shows nothing except a normal seasonal slowdown in the housing market coinciding with people's summer holidays.
Top university towns for buy-to-let revealed: Sunderland offers the best returns - but London doesn't make the list
In the same week as the holy grail of savings accounts, Santander's 123 account halved its rate to 1.5 per cent, research suggests landlords can earn returns up to 6.9 per cent. A combination of low property prices and strong demand for rental accommodation in student cities in the north of England means landlords are raking in almost 7 per cent a year. But experts have warned that it's not a get rich quick scheme. Letting property requires knowledge and understanding of local markets, tenant demands and the laws that govern rental provision.
Eight ruthless scams you need to watch out for: The victims who got their money back... and those who didn't
The Financial Ombudsman explains how victims got scammed and the response of firms to their plight - and how it ruled on who got refunded their money. In one shocking case, a women who lost £250,000 eventually managed to retrieve all of it, but in others victims were left to bear the full brunt of losses themselves. Ombudsman probes can involve listening to recordings of calls between victims and banks back when the scam was under way, to determine who was more at fault for letting fraudsters get away with their crimes.

Workers need to make 35 years of NI contributions to get the full state pension, which is currently £155.65 a week for anyone retiring from April this year onwards.
RACHEL RICKARD STRAUS: The evidence is clear that house price rises must stop - so why can't we see it?
'If something cannot go on forever, it will stop.' When I read this quote, said by Nixon's chief economist Herbert Stein, it sent a shiver down my spine. I think it speaks volumes about the housing market. There are so many things we cannot say for sure about it - whether Brexit, stamp duty changes and interest rates will affect prices, for example. But one thing I think we can say with certainty is that 'it will stop'.
